Ok, not really an AIBU but am posting here since I thought I would get the most replies!
I currently live near London and want to move to Cornwall.
This is partly due to the fact that rents in Cornwall are much much cheaper than around here - we are currently receiving HB but this is due to be reduced significantly in August when HB changes to LHA.
We want a bigger property as DS2 has ASD and really needs his own bedroom (for everyone's benefit!) but we have a snowball's chance in hell of being able to afford a 3 bed in this area, even with the help of HB/LHA - they may not even pay us a 3 bed rate as according to the council we only need a 2 bed (since we have 2 DS's).
Also job opportunities are better for me there than they are here!
The problem is we cannot afford the 'upfront' costs of moving - we find it difficult to save money at the best of times (being on a low income) but with the cuts in TC and HB this year this will be even more difficult to raise the money ourselves.
We are currently on the 'rent deposit scheme' so can't use that as a deposit when/if we move.
What else can I do? Is there any kind of scheme I can apply to or anywhere else I can go for help? Any ideas?
