Visited this restaurant with my 2 children and mother. All i can say is that it was run like a cafe! I have been in many pizza express restaurants but none like this. The waitress took us to our table, well pointed gave us menus and left. My daughter wanted to sit in a booth so i went over and told the waitress that we would like to sit there and she said she would get the table cleared. Sat there for nearly 20 minutes when i actually moved the stuff onto another table myself! Had to put my hand up for someone to take our order as most of the staff were congregating and chatting around the cook area. Guy came over and took our order (didn't write it down), quite impressive i thought until he had to ask three times what drink we wanted, food etc etc. The staff were unfriendly, and i wasn't the only one's unhappy as a couple next to our table had obviously been waiting for ages to order! Very unimpressed. I think all the staff need re-training, especially in customer care! It wasn't even busy!

To be fair, Pizza Express is nothing more than a franchised chain, of italian cafes. Hardly a restaurant really.

I would write a complaint though, as the service was shite by the sounds of it, and it doesnt matter if it is a cafe or a restaurant, you are a customer and should be treated with courtesy and decent service.

Ive only been once to the one in cambridge. Never again. We waited 1.5 hours for our food. My kids nearly ate each other Grin
Terrible service!

WorraLiberty · 08/05/2012 16:42

Is this the one in the Brewery? I've never been in there.

Why are you putting it here instead of emailing the Head Office?

rubyslippers · 08/05/2012 16:43

Email the head office

cuttingpicassostoenails · 08/05/2012 16:46

The one in Peterborough is very good...especially with families. Also the one in Canterbury.

I know the one (Yes it's in Brewery Worra ) My DH won't set foot in there again.
We went in ,we were the only people there .A few more people came in after but it was by no means busy. We were seated in front of the service area.
My DH had a money off voucher, he told the waiter when we ordered. They were so flippin slow even though it was quiet.
Then when they brought the bill, they hadn't taken the voucher off and wouldn't honour it. Shock.
Plus (according to DH) you get bu**er all on your plate.

But one in Ilford had a group of lads try to leave without paying their bill (about £180 the staff said, there were 7 of them). One of the lads got trapped in the PE. The police were called 3 times. They had to lock the doors. The lads came back and started hurling abuse and hammering the doors.
We were allowed to leave by the back doors.
It was a flippin scarey experience.
And there were children present. Sad Angry

WorraLiberty · 08/05/2012 17:27

70is That must have been so scary Sad

I don't care how much money it was, they should have put the customers first imo.

I'm sure they would have had the boys faces on CCTV so they shouldn't have locked him in if it was scaring children etc.

mumtorobbie · 08/05/2012 17:38

The Romford PE is dreadful. The service is often terribly slow and we've often waited ages to even pay the bill.

Goolash · 08/05/2012 17:58

There's a complaint form on the Pizza Express website.

Our local one is really good but we went to one in a neighbouring town and it was shite service. My son had the kids pasta and it was all dried out and crusty, it's not great but edible at others we've been to.

Got vouchers and a call from the manager.

We recently took DS to a Pizza Express and decided their prices were a rip off considering what we actually received. Never again, I'll carry on making my own pizzas.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/05/2012 20:40

Actually Worra I was in awe of the PE staff.
They did everything right. The lad who was stuck in the resturant was a scapegoat really for his friends. He couldn't pay the whole bill (and he sat there smirking. If he was my son I'd have blootered him)

But the police were phoned three times and didn't show.
It was scary when the group were trying to get the doors open- glass doors.
We left before it ended so I don't know how it resolved.
Maybe they did just let him out? Hmm
