I hate leaving DS (18months) and DH behind but I'm in a 5 star hotel enjoying pizza and TV with the prospect of a rare full night of sleep ahead. One night only and knackered after a 3 hr flight but actually not missing them as much as I thought I would. Now I'm feeling guilty for not feeling guilty....

Feeling guilty for not feeling guilty Grin

Enjoy, I would.

I would want something a bit posher than pizza in a 5 star hotel, but otherwise YANBU! Grin

-I love going away for work

YADBVVVVVUUUU how can you leave your child like that. Have you no heart? Don't you miss her like mad? What a terrible mother you are! I could NEVER leave my children for even 30 seconds in fact I even take them to the loo with me because I can't be apart from them - we are SOOO close...

Well I stay in a Travelodge and still love it
Get to work as late as I need to completely calm with no panic about getting home to do bedtime
Then I usually pop to the supermarket to buy something nice to eat, go back and MN/read book in peace, early(ish) night and guaranteed full night's sleep.

backwardpossom · 07/05/2012 17:33

I have a trip at the end of this month and I can't wait! Don't give it a second thought!!

StealthPolarBear · 07/05/2012 17:34

AND I get to winge about the accommodation on MN
Bet you didn't get blood-stained sheets in your poncey 5* hotel, didya, well?

Inthesleeplessnightgarden · 07/05/2012 17:59

Pizza was rather delish, complete with Parma ham and capers, both of which cost a fortune where I live! Considering ordering pudding. And they even have a pillow menu.... Shame I have to get up on time to get to the office and can't make use of spa and other facilities. Still, shall enjoy buffet breakfast and bet there won't be a weetabix in a sight. Thanks for letting me enjoy it guilt free!

Oh, and no bloodstained sheets. But I did ring to complain my wifi connection had gone. And they sent a man in 3 minutes to turn my iPad off and on again to resolve the technical issue.

Ridiculously expensive parma ham pizza and 5 star hotel - you're not in a Hilton are you? Grin

YADNBU - I go away about 3 times a year for 4 nights, have done since DS was 2 and I love every single minute of it - dawdling through my makeup in the morning not having to worry about anyone else, all my cooking and cleaning done for me, toddling off to the gym then eating crap on room service or in nice peaceful restaurants where I can read books and trashy magazines bought at the airport...

...what's not to love!

pointythings · 07/05/2012 19:13

I go away 4 - 6 nights a year and although I miss the DCs I do enjoy the time I have to do what I want, when I want it (outside of work, obviously). So YADNBU,

Downandoutnumbered · 07/05/2012 19:21

YANBU. I'm going away for work in June - I have to go with some truly dreadful colleagues but I'm soooo looking forward to two nights in a hotel room on my own!
