To think that Fireman Sam is Norman's Dad?

McKayz · 07/05/2012 08:45

I'm just watching Fireman Sam with the boys. They both have the same hair, Dilys always seems to blush when Sam is about and Norman never gets in trouble for any of the stupid and dangerous things he does.

DS1 says I am being silly. Am I? Grin

Please humour me, DS1 has chicken pox and it is sod's law that we have sunshine Sad

YES !!!! Now you mention it, it totally makes sense! Wow we are so cool Grin

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2012 08:52

I'd always presumed it was Trevor Evans.

Svrider · 07/05/2012 08:52

What about SAMs brother, the fisherman?
Bronwys husband
(carnt remember his name)
Hope you ds is feeling better soon
Can you get 30mins in the garden??

McKayz · 07/05/2012 09:02

It could be him yes.

He just looks so much like Sam.

There is actually MNetters with the screen name 'FiremanSamisNormansFather'. Or something like that!

McKayz · 07/05/2012 09:15

Have you ever lived in a small village? If it was true, then everyone would know and be making subtle digs about it. Dilys may have her fantasies, but they will never be realised.
Sam is a pure soul I tell you!

McKayz · 07/05/2012 09:20

Yes I have lived in a small village. I am pretty sure they all must know about it. Or there is another brother somewhere maybe??

Bossoftheschool · 07/05/2012 09:33

We've always suspected that! Its the red hair!!!

DogEared · 07/05/2012 09:33

No, it's Steele. I can totally see him with Dilys. They split up when Norman was born with ginger hair and Steele, being a bit misinformed about genetics, thought he couldn't be his.
So he left and when he was walking out, Dilys stood in the doorway to the shop, the infant Norman in her arms, tears streaking her cheeks.
"When will you believe me?" she said in THAT voice . "There is no-one but you!"
"Dilys, your deception has shattered my fragile heart," he answered, the Steele of his name reflected in his eyes. "How can I ever trust you again?"
"We could have a DNA test!" begged Dilys.
"I am simply not the Jeremy Kyle show type," sniffed Steele. Norman stirred, and Dilys opened her blouse to feed him. Trevor watched from an upstairs window.
"We could get one off the internet!" reasoned Dilys, wincing slightly as Norman latched on.
"They're notoriously unreliable," bellowed Steele, and turned his back on his love. "This is the last time I shall see your fair breast, Dilys. Farewell."
Dilys watched him walking away, and silently promised herself that somehow, Norman would see his father- Even if she had to ring 999 daily, he would see him.

I think Sam should text TALK to 63334 & let Jezza resolve this situation once & for all Grin

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2012 09:42

Charlie Jones is Fireman Sam's brother. He owns a chip shop.

I presume at some point the chip shop has a fire......

Boysrstupid · 07/05/2012 09:42

Totally XPosted (slowly) with DogEared Brilliant btw.

IsSamNormansDad · 07/05/2012 10:08

I think you mean me, Tee Smile
I've been wondering this too (perhaps a bit too much) Grin at D0G.

IsSamNormansDad · 07/05/2012 10:09

Oops, I meant dog eared, sorry Blush

Mrsmuppethead · 07/05/2012 10:13

It makes things a bit difficult then...as with the lack of people living in the village or surrounding area, it's entirely possible that Sarah and Norman will get together at some stage and then we have a marriage of cousins, which isn't always recommended.

Tee2072 · 07/05/2012 10:23

Yes it would be you I was thinking of. Grin

FunnyLittleFrog · 07/05/2012 10:26

DogEared Grin

MrsY · 07/05/2012 10:33

In the Y househild, we've long held the belief that Norman is a result of a one off experiment Sam had to see if he was straight.

He's not. Straight, that is.

juneau · 07/05/2012 10:33

I've always thought the same - they're the only two in the whole show with red hair!

PrincessTeacake · 07/05/2012 13:56

It makes sense, but I always thought that Norman saw Sam as a father figure and all his troublemaking is a desperate cry for attention.

Although, it's entirely possible that Norman was spawned by a hellbeast because Pontypandy is basically Ragnarok. It has a grand total of 15 residents in a town that should be home to hundreds and still every day they have some sort of emergency that requires trained professionals to sort out. It's the centre of Doomsday.

Tee2072 · 07/05/2012 15:46

Well, according to my son, Pontypandy is our kitchen. Hmm Perhaps that's why there are only 15 people who live there?

Grin
FoofyShmooffer · 07/05/2012 15:52

No he is Normans older brother. Dilys had him when she was young. She was taken advantage of because she easily has her head turned.

Her parents made her give him up. He came to pontypandy looking for his Mum but never revealed himself to her. So he stays close by to watch over her and Norman. That's why Norman gets away with murder. A lesser man would have strung Norman up by the toenails by now but it's secretly his brother and he's fond of the little shit tyke so he protects them both.

elinorbellowed · 07/05/2012 18:03

I love analysing children's programmes. Reminds me of teaching media studies.

When DS was in his train phase I used to rant on to people about the shocking class-ridden, patriarchal society Thomas has to live in. These trains not only have to work for nothing, they are expected to be grateful for being cogs in this capitalist conspiracy. It's Animal Farm, I tells you.
And as for Chuggington, I was constantly disturbed by the character of Zephy, who is either a child, or has learning disabilities. In either case she is being badly exploited. Along with the racism of the Safari park guide called Mutambo, with that accent.....
Think you're totally normal BTW.
