Another cold call one

I have just this minute closed the door on a youing man.

His first words when I opened it (with the chain on ) were, "Hello, Madam, are you the owner of this building?" I told him it was nothing to do with him whether I owned or rented.

He asked me if I'd got out of bed on the wrong side and walked off assuming that I was a Council tenant.

Yes, I know they are doing a job but why cold call? When they have their training, are they warned that there will be people like me? What have my personal circumstances got to do with them, anyway? < walks away grumbling to have a .......>

YWDNBU. Cold calling is rude. At the very least they should introduce themselves first before asking about your circumstances. A simple "Hello, I'm selling double glazing, would you be interested?" could easily be followed up by "Are you renting/owning" afterwards. I'm immediately put off by anyone who turns up asking me questions about myself before I know about them.
