....just discovered that the shoes that Dorothy wore in the original Wizard of Oz books were silver, not ruby! . Read two children's versions today and they were both silver. And she doesn't say "there's no place like home" either. WRONG, JUST WRONG.

Harumph. Can't original authors please get their books right?

See I was shocked to discover that they were apparantly ruby, that it was snow whites evil stepmother not just mother - who incidentaly was apparantly not forced to dance in red hot iron shoes until she died and that the wood cutter didn't cut the wolf open to pull out red riding hood and granny after they had been eaten...

Oooh, just asked DP and apparantly the silver shoe thing is to do with the American banking system - as indeed is the whole story! Didn't quite understand what he was wittering on about though - something to do with gold standard something or other. He likes banking and monetary issues, at least one of us does lol.

The original snow white story apparently actually was her mother and not her step mother but at some point that was deemed too dark and rewritten.

And Cinderella's slippers were fur, not glass.
