I know I'm a geek and I'm fine with that, but when Data dies in star trek Nemesis, I thought it was really sad. Sad My friend who I told was less than polite about it!!

I am really sorry for Mr Spock when he outlives all his friends!

I cryed when he died and he wasn't even my favorite character, i don't know how bad i would have been if it had been Riker. We can be geeks together Grin

Does Data die in Star Trek? I don't remember that at all.
I cried in the reboot of Star Trek when Kirk's father is crashing the ship & Kirk is born.

GateGipsy · 01/05/2012 08:20

YANBU it is cathartic to cry, so crying at a movie of any kind, or even TV show, is fine. Especially if it is something you've put an emotional investment into. Plus, you know, Star Trek rocks.

Herrena · 01/05/2012 08:30

YANBU at all!

I've always held forth to my poor friends about the fact that the makers of Star Trek can discuss the world in a far more in-depth fashion than any other programme makers, using the simple expedient of sticking a false forehead on someone and calling them an alien.... it's funny what we'll discuss rationally when real world groups aren't referred to.

Also starships and new planets are AWESOME Grin

WyrdMother · 01/05/2012 08:37

Nope, completely normal reaction in Wyrdworld. I have a list of weepy Trek moments but hesitate to post for fear of it being the one episode that someone hasn't seen that I will spoil forever.

xkcdfangirl · 01/05/2012 09:00

MrsHelsBels74 I cried then too - but I was preggers at the time so assumed it was just hormones!

ithasgonetotheopera · 01/05/2012 09:25

YANBU, I love Star Trek and it can be very affecting.

I cried in Star Trek Deep Space Nine when Dax died, poor Worf :(

iscream · 01/05/2012 09:33

I think the episode where Picard gets hit by a ray that makes him think he is living on a planet with a wife, and they have 2 children, and he plays a flute, is really sad.
YANBU

I've started to get a bit weepy myself as I get older at not just Star Trek but Babylon 5 too. Just saw the episode where Sheridan "dies" and had tears running down my face.
