I had a lot of respect for my old boss. I always thought she was a reasonably fair person.
She has a really negative opinion about independent schools and parents who send their children there. I have my own thoughts, but totally respect people have their own opinions. However, she was critical about a colleague of mine who was very open that she worked in order to pay the fees for her 3 sons to attend an independent school. I don't care either way. Her children, her business.
We were recently having a conversation about her partner's children and how one had done really well and was currently training as a teacher. She had to work very hard to get the results she needed in order to get into the very competitive course she wanted.
The conversation moved on to how nervous they all were when they were waiting for her exam results (must have been last year). She then told me the results were sent to her partner's business address (they had issues accessing the property has he had just sold the premises) as this was the address they used for the application to the state school she attended (they didn't live in the catchment area). I was really shocked. Not only did she think it was completely ok to cheat the system, but she had the gall to be negative about those who sent their children to independent schools to secure the education they wanted for their children.
AIBU to think she's a complete hypocrite?
