To make 8 and a half year old DS find his reading book

And if he doesn't find it pay the £5 fine out of his own money. One of those things tht drives me bonkers, he read the book, has had 2 weeks off school to place it back in the school bag and now the day before term starts it is nowhere to be seen! He's moping around the house wailing that it's no-where to be seen. I know eventually I will cave in and look for the book but ffs, surely his reading book is his responsibility, I've done all the checking homework, lunch bag, PE kit, uniform, polished shoes - I probably abu aren't I? (But I bet if it was the DS he'd find it!)

Don't cave in!

DD1 is terrible at 'looking' for things, most of her time is taken up with wailing about how she'll never find it/she's looked already (when she hasn't, she's been wailing)/it's all just 'So Unfair' Grin

Looking for stuff and learning to take care of things so you don't have to go through the shitty process of looking for stuff is a valuable lesson

I agree with ZigZag

But as an aside, I'd try not to leave it til the day before in future as non of you need the stress!

Thanks ZigZag glad it's not just me and thanks too Worra I usually do - lesson learnt for both of us.

If he's anything like my DS, he'll call down from bed tonight...

"Muuuuuum, I just remembered I left it at School" Hmm Grin

Does he have easy, suitable storage in his bedroom so that he has no excuse for not putting it back in it's proper place? If yes, then he should find it or pay the fine.

Dd has a stacking tray system next to her desk, each tray is for specific school books. It is her responsibility to keep everything in the right tray. It works well and saves a lot of time.
