To expect DP to suck it up.

Basically DP been ill since Fri n spent Fri and sat in bed while I (30 weeks pregnant) looked after ds (17 months).
I don't mind because he was really ill but I am also ill and was in agony yesterday...crying most of the day etc.

Today he is Mich better and now just feels tired and spacey whereas I feel reli sick and still in pain.

Now normally when I've been as ill as he has I've had to suck it up and get on with it because he can't take time off work so am I BU to expect him today to suck it up and look after ds while I get some rest?

Get in the bed with him and tell him ds needs attention.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 22/04/2012 13:21

YANBU - tell him straight. He had 2 days in bed undisturbed, now you need the rest of today - end of.

dreamingbohemian · 22/04/2012 13:29

Why on earth haven't you said anything then???

Don't just be annoyed -- tell him.

CremeEggThief · 22/04/2012 13:30

YANBU. It's his turn to look after your toddler today. Get to bed!

Shock Shock

My DH would find himself missing some pretty useful body parts if he ever said something like that to me.

Still, sounds like you're both miserable. Can you take turns in smaller increments? 2 hours on, 2hours off?

JustForMe · 22/04/2012 13:48

I wasnt happy he's lucky he's still in one piece. I was happy to that untill I thought about all the times ive sucked it up when im Ill and the times ive dealt with DS when he's either been ill or hung over.

To my calculation i find DP ill= day off in bed being pathetic (even a cold)
Me ill= Looking after DS and just getting on with it.

Therefore its my turn to rest this afternoon.

Stick to your guns and stay in bed for the rest of the day! Have you got a lock on the bedroom door, so you can lock him out and not have to listen to his whining?

And next time he's ill, go off for the day sans dc and leave him to get on with things! It may just teach him to be a bit more grateful for the kindness you've shown him so far, when he's been ill! Good luck!

pumpkinsweetie · 22/04/2012 13:59

My dh gets like this when he is ill, it drives me mad!!
Tell him to help you out unless he is actually dieing i cant see a reason why you cant have a rest.

He was dieing yesterday and friday today he just grasping for extra sympathy which he aint getting.
If I could go out today I would he needs to learn.
The more angry I get the less nice I become ive told DS is his responsibility today he not happy but he'll get over it.
