for thinking the OU are discriminating against me?

I've just tried to enroll on a course with the OU. A 60 point level 1 course. They've put their fees up to £2500 per course. Except that's only because I'm English. If I were in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland it would only be £750. I'd be on the same course, with the same resources, tutors, contact as other British citizens but I'd have to pay nearly £2000 more than my fellow students. Angry

If you had the time and money, you could probably take it to the Hague under section 8.

My understanding is that the course costs the same wherever you are from. What differs is how much you pay and how much your government is prepared to contribute. It's not the OU discriminating. It's to do with the changes this government has brought in regarding Higher Education funding and how the students' contribution is paid.

So it's Westminster that are discriminating against me. They are providing funding for Scottish, Welsh and Irish (via the devolved powers) while at the same time taking funding away from the English. Bastards.

is there another course you could start with?

if you want to study towards a degree and there's a short course starting next month that would count towards that degree, you might be able to do the cheaper course first which would then mean you would qualify for transitional fees, meaning old cheaper rates for the rest of your courses

there are loads of 10 point courses starting in May that are much cheaper - mine were £170 each
