are a sign of stupidity?

Bascially you are too thick to work your phone and understand how to turn the noise off.

No one would ever want their phone to beep at every keypress, would they?

My mum loves her keypad beeps. I'd love to smash her phone up for it.

Spuddybean · 19/04/2012 20:08

i know people who think the sound is lovely/cute and seem to think everyone else does too. They seem genuinely Shock when i say it's annoying.

I also hate bleepy games on a DS or similar. You get kids playing them on the train and the parents just oblivious to how annoying it is. Now there are people watching stuff on ipads without earphones too - does everyone think what they do is endlessly entertaining and interesting to everyone around them? Very odd.

BagofHolly · 19/04/2012 20:36

YANBU, not even a little bit. I equate it with the ignorance associated with cutting a bread roll instead of breaking it. Unforgivable.

ErikNorseman · 19/04/2012 20:38

YANBU at all.

2rebecca · 19/04/2012 20:40

Cutting a bread roll doesn't affect anyone else though. I sometimes cut my bread roll, it's faster and less messy. The rule that says bread rolls shouldn't be cut if it's butter only but should be if it's butter and jam is a piece of mental "rules for the sake of rules that serve no purpose other than making some people feel superior" in my opinion.
I hate unnecessary beeping noises but have no objection to knives and bread rolls. Am happy to mind my own business there.

BagofHolly · 19/04/2012 20:45

To me, it's the same level of ignorance and provokes the same response - jab them in the face with a fork.

Red2011 · 19/04/2012 20:49

The only people who might need bleepy keypad noises are those with visual or learning disabilities - so that they are aware of what they are doing.
Anyone else who uses bleepy things deserves punching.

Nagoo · 19/04/2012 20:54

I am always Confused how people think it is appropriate to choose a new ringtone on the train.

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/04/2012 20:56

I thought you meant ones your computer makes. All of a sudden. In a quiet room. For no reason. That scare the shit out of me you.

Nagoo · 19/04/2012 21:01

I thought those noises were 'computer' for NO.

I think if I had squillions of pounds I'd make a public service announcement teaching people that beepy noises coming from your phone means you are an imbecillic twat.

OP posts:
Pixel · 19/04/2012 21:04

I hate the bleepy noises too and always disable them on my phone. Also if I get kidnapped I don't want to give away the fact that I'm texting for help from the boot of the car Wink.
HOWEVER, the whole family has searched on my mum's phone for a way to turn off the beeping and there is just no way of doing it, so I'm not going to call her ignorant!

theonewiththenoisychild · 19/04/2012 21:13

I like my keyboard clicks on my iphone but beeping keypads get on my nerves Confused strange really but i do flick the silent switch if txting in public

Nagoo · 19/04/2012 21:36

pixel give me the make and model and I will find a way.

fucking iphone clicks? They are the WORST. It's just bloody showing off that you've got an iphone. A higher class of twatty annoying noise.

Why do people with an iphone (except me. I've got one, it's not Envy) always call it an 'iphone'? It's a phone! No one ever said, oh hold on, I'll just look it up on my HTC desire, did they?

OP posts:
scarletforya · 19/04/2012 21:45

I was at an evening lecture recently and a woman in front of me had a phone with keypad tones enabled, she was texting away merrily for about 20 minutes totally oblivious to how irritating it was.

I had to move seats and I was so irate I didn't trust myself to be able to politely ask her to shut the fuck up!!!

How can anyone be so thick!?

LST · 19/04/2012 21:57

I must admit I have the clicks on my 'iphone' when it's on loud. Just to remind me it's on loud Grin

ShatnersBassoon · 19/04/2012 22:05

But how would we know people on soap operas were using a mobile if we didn't hear the beeps?

I didn't know people in real life didn't disable the key tones.

Nagoo · 19/04/2012 22:14

'their keypad tones were on' is a suitable defence for anything from ABH to murderisation.

So true, Nagoo. So true.

Fleurdebleurgh · 20/04/2012 11:15

My phone clicks when i type. It needs to or i dont know if ive pressed the button properly (fat fingers)

iwantbrie · 20/04/2012 11:23

I hate noises on phones, my DS has the same phone as me but on loud so I always turn the annoying clicky noises off when I get my hands on it! I don't even like ringtones, mines just a phone ring.
I've just got an ipad and even when it's on silent the alarm comes up every now & then for emails etc! Not sure I can turn it off, and even as I'm typing this, with the thing on silent the keyboard is clicking away at me. Do you think it knows I'm getting irate with it?

theonewiththenoisychild · 20/04/2012 13:31

I dont call my phone an iphone all the time i usedto always call my old phone my blackberry but this one is just iphone. Was just mentioning the clicks because i dont find them as annoying. I use the keyboard clicks mainly because this is my first touch screen phone as i dont usually get ob with them Blush but like i say i have the courtesy to switch the phone to silent while txting in public

theonewiththenoisychild · 20/04/2012 13:31

Just a phone i meant

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 20/04/2012 13:39

Oh I like my keypad clicks on my iphone, I like to think of it as a 'proper' keyboard iyswim? Clickity click click :o

Mrsjay · 20/04/2012 13:54

I hate bleeps and nosies from phones and ring tones fuck off with those Grin It doesnt make people stupid though just easily amused imo , are you not meant to cut a roll then ?

BusinessTrills · 20/04/2012 13:55
