Evening all...quick AIBU...as well as a full time job I run a small catering business from home, cakes, buffets etc.
I have been asked to do a buffet for a friend of a friend but they are now saying oh Aunty such and such is doing quiches, someone else is bringing something else can you just do the rest...
I'm trying to build up my business inc. taking photos for a website etc...
AIBU to not want to put my name to something that I haven't had full control over?
Am I cutting off my nose to spite my face by saying I'll do all or nothing??? Thanks smile

Yabu, you don't have to take photos of this particular event surely?

AgentZigzag · 19/04/2012 19:39

Are they paying?

Could you get a list from them of exactly what they'd like, and you can say yea/nay to whatever it is?

That way you can get a bit of control.

YABU.

If your trying to build your business you should be a bit more flexible to build up a good reputation. And I assume they're paying?

You're not doing them a favour, you're providing a service and should do what the customer wants, if it sounds (and it does) fairly reasonable.

Unless it is a favour and you can do it how you want really

Thanks everyone...I am doing it at pretty much cost price because I need the photos to build a portfolio of work, I suppose I could skip taking photos of this one but I like to record what I've done and the progress I've made...
There isn't really any need for the input off others because they're paying them for things I'd include in the price!
And it could fall flat on it's face if such and such forgets and messes something up it could fall back on me Hmm

control what you can control and don't control what you can't
take photographs of what you've made and not what you ain't

Arrange it nicely at home and take pics before taking it to party.

I don't see how it can fall back on you so long as there is clear communication and you put in writing exactly what you are doing, including the fact that you are doing x, x and x for £ price, and anything on top of that must be confirmed and paid for before such and such a date, and you are clear that you will NOT be able to alter that, and ask them do they understand that. Then, if the bits you aren't doing don't get done, you refer them to the contract and you say sorry, this is what we agreed I would do, as you can see - I have done it.

And just take photos of what you've done.
