To have not booked my summer holiday yet?

Well, am I?

People keep telling me I've left it too late and that I won't find anything.

Is this true? We wanted to go camping in Cornwall and it usually takes me a long time to search to get the right place but I didn't think that by now, it would be too difficult to find somewhere or am I just being a bit dim.

I haven't booked anything either. Tbh, I'm not sure if we can afford anything this year, so waiting to see if we have any money a bit nearer the time. If you're looking at camping in Cornwall, we stayed at Hayle a couple of years ago. The site was really good, near St. Ives.

CointreauVersial · 19/04/2012 17:24

Nah, I only booked mine this week. Campsites don't sell out, do they?

cornsyilk · 19/04/2012 17:28

we've not booked anything yet. It's not a necessity anyway - loads of folk don't go on holiday at all.

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2012 17:29

What the hell has the fact that a holiday isn't a necessity got to do with my question?

Seriously!

We haven't booked anything either, I'm not sure if I can get the time off work. We'll probably go camping in France.

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2012 17:32

Those who haven't booked, do you usually leave it this 'late'?

I was beginning to get a bit cross with myself for being disorganised but perhaps I haven't been

OP posts:
cornsyilk · 19/04/2012 17:32

are you always this friendly to people that post on your threads OP?

MarshaBrady · 19/04/2012 17:33

We haven't booked anything yet. Never book early, always last minute and seem to get a good deal on the flights.

belgo · 19/04/2012 17:33

WE do usually leave it late to book. We're fairly flexiable about where we will go.

Thetokengirl · 19/04/2012 17:34

If you are going in the school holidays, then no, I don't think you are too late. However, I would book something soon. When we went camping in Cornwall a few years ago we struggled to find a site we liked the look of that wasn't booked up and I think that was about March/April time.
When we used to go pre-DC outside of school holidays, we never used to book and would just turn up at a site we liked the look of and never had any problems.

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2012 17:37

I'm not being unfriendly.

I'm just sick to death of reading, on so many threads when somebody wants advice/opinions on something that is not to do with being poor or sick - "that xxxxx isn't a necessity and lots of people don't get to have/do it either".

It has absolutely nothing to do with my question.

I know full well people don't get to go on holiday. I fail to see why you posted it.

Alright then, moving on - can somebody recommend me a nice family site, near the beach, open spaces, near touristy bits etc.

Please?

Thanks Smile

PuffPants · 19/04/2012 17:43

We have never booked anything more than a month in advance IIRC. Always loads of stuff available.

Unless you have a particular sun lounger in mind.

MarshaBrady · 19/04/2012 17:43

Oh just read you meant camping. We're not a camping family at all. But I imagine you should be fine.

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2012 17:44

I just want someone to tell me the name of a nice place so I can book it.

I know sod-all about camping, haven't been since my teens and I (stupidly) promised my boys we would go for our summer hols this year!

It will probably rain knowing my luck Smile

PuffPants · 19/04/2012 17:45

Oh yes, me too, just spotted the camping thing. Sorry, can't help.

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2012 17:45

Thanks porca

Please don't yell at me for posting that I can't help.

Or for this update.

cornsyilk · 19/04/2012 17:46

I posted it because you said in your op that people are saying that you won't fiind anything etc

To which my Point was it's not the end of the world if you don't find somewhere anyway, which would be my reply in rl to somebody who expressed such opinions as you describe in your op

However I see I don't meet the criteria to post on your very special thread

Mrsjay · 19/04/2012 17:47

We had a great holiday a couple of years ago at Gwithian Farm near Hayle. It was a lovely site, a couple minutes wander from the beach and a spotless shower block. NO swimming pool, playground etc but the kids were always well occupied.

We either book very early or two days before we leave, depends how the finances are :o We have had some cracking last minute deals this way so, if you are brave enough to do it that way, YANBU.
