Neighbour is scraping AGAIN!!

Dear god, tis driving me mad. Neighbour is doing up his house (well, has increased the size of it by about 100% in the last year actually) and is determined to do as much of it himself as possible. Every evening, just as the kids finally settle to bed, he starts DIY-ing (has a day job). A little drilling here, a little hammering there. To his credit he doesnt do REALLY LOUD stuff evenings. But tonight, as every day this week and many, many before, he is clearly scraping wallpaper off the wall in the room next to this one. Its surprisingly loud. I just want to chill. He just wants to DIY.

Back story..he moved in 2010, and spent that summer buidling a fuck off huge garage in his back garden. Since then he has been building a side extension, rear extension and loft extension to his house. Why didnt he just buy a bigger house in the first place.

Arghhhhhh.

he will get it just so, then sell it

then the new people will start all over again
:)

If it that regular YANBU, it would drive me insane.

CuriousMama · 15/04/2012 19:19

Well you could always offer to help him, get it done faster Wink Grin

No seriously, it must be really annoying.

Sparklingbrook · 15/04/2012 19:20

He needs a steamer-minimum scrapage required.

manicbmc · 15/04/2012 19:21

You could always check council records to make sure he had planning permission Grin

Gravity1 · 15/04/2012 19:23

And now the house the other side has sold...and guess what, the new owners want to build an extension! Noooooo!

Forgot to add my actual AIBU - which is, can I justifiably hire a bulldozer and just drive through and over the lot of them? Grin

If he didn't have planning permission, the council will do it for you Grin

Gravity1 · 15/04/2012 19:27

Help him Curious? Dear god, I'd never see light again. The man is a money saving idiot. ie get builders in to build unnecessarily huge extension but dont pay anyone to actually finish the job, but rather take 2 years to tap/scrape/bang/fuck up the job ones self. Wife is fantasising about leaving him I believe!

Move to a country house that is detached lol

Gravity1 · 15/04/2012 19:30

Planning permission is an interesting point (ok, I dont get out muchSmile) but he had permission for the side and rear but not the loft and apparetnly many folks build it anyway and then retrospectively apply knowing its unlikely that the council really will come and tear it down. Bit naughty, but not the end of the world I guess. Feeling friendlier now since the scraping has stopped. Bliss.
