AIBU to Dislike Play Tents?

DCs in the garden today. 'Can we have the tent up Mum?' So spent five minutes in the shed trying to find where I stashed it last year. Then spend 10 minutes putting it together (not a pop-up tent)including 8 minutes of scratching head as I pondered where all the different poles went. Two minutes to give it a wipe down before I finally let the kids in. Five minutes to prepare the 'camping snacks' they requested to eat in the tent. After all that, they play in it for a total of five sodding minutes before coming back in the house because it was 'too cold' in the garden. Aaahh!!!

You need a pop up play tent, in the house :)

YANBU. The purpose built ones are fun until you've finished putting them up then they get left to the earwigs.

get some cheap bamboo and some tarpaulin and string and get them to do it themselves

The problem with the pop-up play tent we've got is that I can't fold the sodding thing back up to get it put away. Usually have to wait for DH to do it!

a sheet. the back of the sofa. tent.

Oh well, it's up now, they'll use it over the summer :)

Mine spent more time up in the house than the garden. I spent hours 'making house' in it :) I can still smell it now!

southeastastra you have just transported me back to the late 1970's, me and my brothers making a tent in the garden from some old bamboo canes (probably used to grow the runner beans) and a couple of old sheets. Happy days Grin

Not so sure it will last the summer, Chipping. it is quite windy here and a while ago I had to go and rescue it from a bush it had blown into. It is now weighed down with a little tikes slide they removed from the play cube thing to use as a 'camping bed'.
