To be worried about this 6 months after an ECS? TMI warning!

I've never had 'normal' periods (maybe 3 or 4 a year due to type of pill I take) and am now back on the pill so not expecting a monthly cycle, but roughly every two weeks I'm getting a stringy (often bloody) mucus. It's a bit like the mucus plug but not as thick. Sorry for TMI! Blush

It's as if everything is still 'clearing out' after being pregnant.

I've stupidly Googled it and everything from it being ovulation time to horror stories have come up!

Is this normal so long after a section and should I be worried about it?

You won't be ovulating if you're on the pill, so it's not the classic ovulation "EWCM" - I'd visit your GP if you're concerned.

GavisconJunkie · 13/04/2012 11:30

I had an emcs & didn't get this.'I'd go to the gp. It sounds like an infection or that your pill no longer suits you.

Disclaimer I HAVE NO MEDICAL TRAINING & THE ABOVE COULD BE TOTAL BOLLOCKS

I hope you're ok.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/04/2012 11:33

Definitely time for a trip to the GP, but In the meantime, could it be a side effect of your contraception? Have a look at the patient information leaflet.

And step away from Dr Google; he's a bit of a doom and gloom merchant Wink

Go to the Dr, and if it continues, go back, go back, go back until you get absolutely confirmation of why this is happening and what it is. I had similar issues after an erpc for a mc - and it took 3 visits to Drs to get correct treatment - just glad that I kept on going back when it still hadn't settled down.

Thanks all for confirming I'm not bonkers by ringing the Dr.

Appreciate your replies Thanks

I have this with every ovulation since ds3, over 5 years ago. The issue I see for you is that you are on the pill so shouldn't be ovulating, saying that though I was sterilized on the operating table at the same time as having ds so shouldn't be getting it either but I am. If you are worried go and see your GP. Just remember though your body is never the same after having dc.

Vizzini · 13/04/2012 17:01

I had this when I was on the mini-pill. Swapped to combined and it stopped. I truly believed I was gravely ill Blush but the doc said its common on mini pill or when changing pills (especially in the first three months).

Newmummytobe79 · 13/04/2012 17:05

Phew! Thanks keepingupwiththejoneses and Vizzini - glad to know I'm not the only one it's happened to.

I'm on the mini-pill so maybe that's why?

It doesn't cause me any pain (apart from the odd griping 'coming on' pain) - just don't want it to be anything serious in case we decide to try again.

The combined pill doesn't agree with me, but hopefully it's nothing serious! Just get scared everytime I see it and feel like something is coming away from up there! Blush
