Is my neighbour being unreasonable?

first of all, yes I'm going on what my 11 yo dd is saying.

Next door neighbours, we haven't had a falling out with them ever but don't tend to have anything to do with each other. We talk politely if we bump into each other outside but that's it.

Dh is currently in the back garden quietly mixing a small amount of cement by hand.

Dd went up to the loo and was only upstairs a few minutes and came down. Said she had gone into our bedroom to look out the back window out her dad. Next door neighbour was walking down the path in his garden and stopped, glared at her and made shooing motions with his hands. She copied what he did to me and it's definetly a full on go away motion. She says she shook her head at him and pointed down into our garden trying to show him she's not looking in his garden. She says he appeared quite pissed off at this and shook his head and glared some more before going inside.

It's raining at the minute so it's not like they're sunbathing or anything. We have a 7ft high wall between the gardens and outbuildings so most of their garden is obscured anyway.

I know it's not nice to think you might be overlooked but if he was that bothered I think he should have bought a house with no neighbours. I like looking out my window at the chickens and now feel that I have to be careful incase the neighbour sees me! Not that I have a lot of free time to spend looking out the window and I don't think he's seen me looking out the window previously. Nor does dd spend a lot of time looking out the window.

I feel like getting binoculars now and doing some bird watching. Grin

Yes, the neighbour is being unreasonable. he was looking up at your windows for a start. Why does he need to do that?

Hassled · 09/04/2012 16:31

That is truly odd behaviour and all I can think is that he was on his way to dig a six foot hole prior to laying a new patio. Or to stash some dope behind a garden gnome.

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2012 16:31

I would but a big telescope and take up astronomy. Wink

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2012 16:32

BUY even.

cronsilksilt · 09/04/2012 16:32

perhaps he was up to something...

VivaLeBeaver · 09/04/2012 16:33

He's a copper so don't think he's burying drugs or bodies.

He needs to get a grip.

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2012 16:36

Well if he's a copper he will know it's not illegal to look out of your own window. Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 09/04/2012 16:38

Well I'm glad people think it's him not us. We'll keep looking out our window as much as we like.

Let it wash over you - he's obviously a misery with nothing better to do than get annoyed at pointless little things.

RuleBritannia · 09/04/2012 16:43

Is he Inspector Blaketon?

VivaLeBeaver · 09/04/2012 17:01

I had to google inspector blaketon, years since I watched Heartbeat! Grin

Possibly who he models himself on.

I was just saying to dh that I've seen the kids in the house on our other side looking out their window into our garden before and I've smiled and waved at them, they've waved back. Like normal people do.
