....part of my lounge with a room divider and all DC's toys be In that area only so its like a very large play pen?!!! and to expect my dtd's to play nicely knowing that they are.perfectly safe and be able to shoot off and do quick house jobs. obviously checking on then regularly!

Sounds good to me. Is someone telling you otherwise?

YANBU my dd is only small atm (9mo) so I have her travel cot up in my living room with a blanket over the mattress and toys in there, i dont leave her in there all day of course but if i have got laundry to do and will be in and out etc
at least i know shes safe and occupied.

I used to use a travel cot like this too e.g. if the doorbell rang or I needed to fry something or carry a hot saucepan of soup and didn't want little hands on my legs distracting me.

A friend did this. She had one of those modern houses where the kitchen, dining room and living room all linked into each other. She moved the dining table and sectioned off a very large playpen.

Very handy to know her DS wasn't going to wander into the kitchen or climb on the sofa just as she was lifting something hot.

Mostly though DC was outside and the pen acted as a good way of stopping toys being scattered over the entire down stairs.

My dinning room opens off my kitchen and I put a stair gate across the door for the same reason.

I could see DD in there, but she couldn't sneak up on me while getting things out of our Rayburn or while draining pans of boiling water.

Yes I used the travel cot when DD1 was tiny, but she was too good at climbing to do it for long.

Just a comment I got on fb off someone. good to know I'm not going to be accused of abandoning DC's!!!
