Gaslighting....

I'm a new user here, although I've lurked for a while. Can someone please explain to me what the term "gaslighting" means? Apologies if there is a glossary somewhere that I havn't spotted, and also if I should have put this elsewhere!
Oh and also how do you add smileys to a post!

what post about gaslighting? you haven't posted about gaslighting. Are you mad? Don't you think we'd know if you'd posted about gaslighting. I think you need to go and see someone, tbh.

It comes from the title of a film where the DH trie to make the DW think she is losing her mind by moving things around/hiding her jewellery/ making out that she has forgotten stuff.
