a chicken before I put it in the oven?
Why do you need to wash something that is about to be cooked for one and a half hours at a hot temperature?
Do you wash your beef as well, how about your bacon?

Are chickens trying to kill us? Oh-no! Confused

TiggyD · 03/04/2012 17:33

A squirt of Febreeze does wonders.

McHappyPants2012 · 03/04/2012 17:33

Never washed any meat

neverputasockinatoaster · 03/04/2012 17:35

I never wash chicken. I once watched my mum do it and watched all the spray go every where.

With regards to kissing the crucifix......... I have perfected the 'air kiss' over the crucifix, that hanky can't possibly be remotely effective! It always makes me chuckle at mass when the person giving out the wine offers the chalice to one person then wipes and turns...... Fine if only 4 people are taking communion but once they've been you're back at the start and those germs won't have died! I just see the wine as having germ killing properties!

I too read §or saw something t'other day that said you should NEVER wash chicken prior to cooking

WilsonFrickett · 03/04/2012 17:41

take it in the shower, then coat shower and chicken in shower spray. Everything's shiny and no wiping Grin

Why can you not put the full question in the thread title?

It's hardly thrilling is it?

dappleton · 03/04/2012 17:47

oh, so glad you posted this. I'm one of the crazy people that wash all meat, my excuse is i'm veggie and grew up in a veggie family, now cook meat for DH and DS but have no idea what i'm doing. I wash it first in same way as i wash veggies before cooking Blush. Will stop doing that as of NOW. Thank you MNetter's you've just saved my family from something very nasty!
