I don't really watch cooking stuff, but this thing was Parisian cooking with the fear and whatever removed, so I thought it might be a bit different. Some young one in her wee parisian flat (which also doubles as her resteraunt???) doing cooking like them Parisian's do it. She claims to have trained in Paris, but personally I have never seen a bigger gobshite in charge of a knife, blender and practically anything else she turned her hand to..
To quote "I am not much good at chopping" is like a mechanic saying " I'm not that good with engines". She managed to annoy the fillings out of my molars. What the fuck was she meant to be?
Pissed off of London.

porcamiseria · 03/04/2012 16:01

me too!!!! hated her food tho

steak tartare, boak
livers, boak boaK BOAK

Stratters · 03/04/2012 16:07

Well yes, the food was ever so slightly lacking in appeal. But she was good value.

P'raps she'll do cakey next week, eh porca.

squoosh · 03/04/2012 16:10

Whoever commissions cookery programmes for BBC2 is obviously a sucker for

a) a pretty girl in her whimsical kitchen - Parisian Lady, Sophie Dahl,

b)a pretty woman in her fancy London kitchen - Nigella, Lorraine Pascale.

Oh, and the hairy bikers.

stealthsquiggle · 03/04/2012 16:11

She is annoying. Intensely so. I have no issue with steak tartare, but her "silly little me" flirtiness drives me nuts.

I am sure she is very nice in RL and it is only the TV persona [hopeful]

lolaflores · 03/04/2012 16:29

All of the above. I was really hoping for something authentic. and that cassoulet she did looked fucking vile and an insult to the nice man in the bistro who let her touch his sausage. The meatballs looked frankly like testicles that had been burned.
the cheese shop looked the buisness though and the choccy shop. Thats what I wanted to see, not her with her two ring baby belling and shiny hair. disappointing.

and it is "with" not "Wiv", if I may be so prissy.

Why doesn't she have a real cooker? have I missed something?

Is there a French National Shortage of Cooking Equipment? Shock

I enjoyed the battered bowl. Particularly when everything else was clearly brand new Grin

Do you know what I noticed about it?.... None of her clothes fit her properly.

NoraHelmer · 03/04/2012 17:47

I really like her programme, although didn't see last night's.

iklboo · 03/04/2012 18:15

Sod her. Hairy Bikers' Bakeation is on tonight Grin.

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 03/04/2012 19:14

She got on my tits within her first 15 seconds on screen. I encouraged DP to watch something about science instead.

redwineandchocolate · 03/04/2012 20:38

YES. She was so irritating. And she really takes the 50s fashion trend too far. Also, I speak French and her accent is weird, even the way she says 'voila'.
OK rant over!

RachelWalsh · 03/04/2012 20:44

Methe I noticed the clothes not fitting too, it just added to the contrived air of the whole thing - that's not her flat, those aren't her clothes and she can't chop very well because she's never bloody done it before if you ask me!!!

RachelWalsh · 03/04/2012 20:46

I say - drama school graduate found by audition.

Piffle · 03/04/2012 20:48

what is the point of chunky nice Toulouse sausage when you just puree the bejaysus out of it...
and then make it into slimy meatballs to serve with vege flavoured water on a blob of beans

The whole point of being in France and having access to all the fresh market produce she waxed lyrical about at the start (and quite frankly sent me into spirals of envy) was that you need not find "other" ways around French classics...

Very disappointed in the food if I am honest

Katiekitty · 03/04/2012 21:01

Piffle - your 'what is the point of chunky nice Toulouse sausage when you just puree the bejaysus out of it...
and then make it into slimy meatballs to serve with vege flavoured water on a blob of beans' - gave me a genuine moment of LOLation. Many thanks.
