Will try to keep this brief (despite wanting to rant and rave!)
DD came home from after-school club this afternoon with a fever and a tummy ache, feeling very sorry for herself and being very grisly. She said she wanted her daddy to give her a cuddle to make her feel better.
So I phoned XH who was on his way home from work. He spoke to DD and said he'd come round, which he did.
I said I had a slight issue with DD possibly being too poorly for school tomorrow as I have tomorrow off work because I bought tickets for an exhibition some time ago, and would he be able to look after her instead if need be. (In the three years she's been at school, it's always been me sacrificing work to stay home if she's been ill do I didn't think this was an unreasonable request). He said he could ask but he doubted it.
Then he put a call in to his elderly DM and asked if she could do the honours if necessary, which she kindly said she would. Fine, but then he announced "There you go, I've sorted out YOUR problem for you"!
MY problem?!? OUR daughter is unwell and it's MY problem? Don't know if he expected me to congratulate him on his heroic feat of getting his mum involved but I was fuming!!!
His mum is quite old and not in the best of health and he's asking to possibly care for a poorly child so he can go into the office? Wouldn't mind but we work for the same company (different offices!) and we have the ability to work from home if necessary so he doesn't need to palm DD off (after all, it's what I've had to do in the past!).
And then he says to DD that she should get to bed, so she asks if he can put her to bed and read her a story. To which he said he couldn't as he had to go and get his dinner! Cue more tears from DD once he'd left as now she thinks he's mean :(
Utter toss bag. AARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!
