I don't have the time (what with 3 DC under 5) to book an appointment, am a bit short on xtra cash this month, and am good with a scissors!

Shall I bob myself, fringe and all?! Grin

Have you done it before? I would be petrified!

Jackin · 27/03/2012 21:42

I do it all the time. But I am a man and just use clippers.

Blackpuddingbertha · 27/03/2012 21:44

Search for the MN haircut threads - they'll tell you how to do it!

Blackpuddingbertha · 27/03/2012 21:46

here's one

Plaguegroup · 27/03/2012 21:47

I do mine using the MN haircut, I've even been asked where I get it done. Grin

dearprudence · 27/03/2012 21:48

Yesss!

I am fascinated by the MN haircut, and very admiring of anyone with the guts to do it. Please will you post pictures?

I have bobbed my own hair for about eight years and it looks fine. It helps if your hair is a bit curly/wavy to hide any mistakes though. Make sure you use sharp scissors.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/03/2012 21:51

Ooooh, did the last "I cut my hair thread" not illustrate what a bad idea this is?

McHappyPants2012 · 27/03/2012 21:51

a brave women than me, i don't even trust hairdressers, my hair is very long ( about 5 inches till it reaches my bum) badly needs cutting but have bad visions lol

BunnyLebowski · 27/03/2012 21:56

I haven't been to a hairdresser in about 4 years.

I've never had a salon haircut I loved. I wanted a full fringe for years but no hairdresser would ever do it...always bullying me into the same boring straightened to death side parting Wetherspoons on a Fri night identi-cut. Hated it.

One bottle of vino + a pair of proper hair scissors later = never looked back Smile

I would NEVER do the MN haircut as with insanely thick and plentiful tresses I would end up looking like SuBo but DIY hair cutting? Go for it!

Tiddlyompompom · 27/03/2012 22:48

A warning from the Voice Of Experience; cut your fringe DRY...
If you cut it wet it'll bounce up an inch once it's dry, leaving you with a rather different look! Shock

StandingAlone · 27/03/2012 23:22

I did the MN haircut, twas very easy. I have even been asked where I get my hair cut as they like it so muc, people are quite Shock when I tell them I did it myself

gaelicsheep · 27/03/2012 23:35

I cut my own hair. Have only visited the hairdressers twice in the last 5 years. Resented the money each time and hated every minute of it. I do the front and sides and get a very nervous DH to do the back.
