In thinking that this man is a selfish twat?

At Great Ormond Street waiting for DS to have a general. The ward clearly says no food and drink allowed as all the children are nil by mouth.

A twat dad who should know better has just eaten a roll and had a drink. It's reminded my DS how hungry he is (long delays). The dad was told by the nurse to leave the ward while eating.

A thoughtless selfish twat!

MessNessPess · 27/03/2012 12:26

Agree very thoughtless.

ChocolateToothpaste · 27/03/2012 12:26

Yes, I always carry some nuts or an apple around with me in case I get hungry in situations like this. But I wouldn't do it on a ward with children. He is a TWAT.

verytellytubby · 27/03/2012 12:26

I was just gearing up to say something but the nurse got there first. To add insult to injury there's two of them with their child so he could have left the ward to eat. I'm on my own with DS so can't sneak off.

Twat.

Good luck to your DS. :)

YANBU, when my wee one was in yorkhill, her ward was nil by mouth and staff asked parents to go outside and eat. A woman brought in a bag filled with crisps and chocolate and started munching. Cue my 3 year old becoming demented at the food she couldn't have.
Some people are just selfish and don't understand how hard it can be for the kids that aren't allowed to eat at that moment.

Blush I was guilty of doing this yesterday. Had an ante-natal appt at my local hospital so decided to stop in and visit my mum (ward sister) on the way back. Came in through the door with a wispa in my hand and got very told off by my mum who said I should hide it in my bag out of sight of all the poor NBM children!

Blush For not thinking how mean that was
Blush For it being chocolate and not a nice healthy snack
and
Blush For being told off by my mum at the age of 27 and mother myself!

sashh · 27/03/2012 13:29

I can top that - v sad

In a hospital I will not mention, decades ago, I came accross a child with coronary artery disease (he was 10) as a result of another heart condition which meant he could have a heart attack at a young age, heart transplants for children were experimental at the time.

He was not allowed to exercise and it was really really important he kept his weight down.

He would come home from school, sit down and watch TV eating biscuts. It was suggested tot he parents that they either stop buying biscuits or kept them out of the house, they claimed they couldn't because dad liked a biscuit with his tea in the mornings!Sad

verytellytubby · 27/03/2012 17:05

Sash that's awful.

It used to get my goat the people who would stand at the ward door waiting for it to be opened as they had a hot drink with them.. The microwave was at the end of DS's bed on top of a fridge and it wasnt unusual for someone to plonk down a drink then wander off and forget it

sashh · 28/03/2012 05:53

verytellytubby
It was, I still think about him now, and as I said it was decades ago.
