Help with DS

DC x 2 had a seriously nasty V and D, high fever, and sore throat bug for 5 days now. I have got the high temp under control now with suppositories but DS has serious leg cramps to the point where he can?t walk properly, what can I do for him I?ve tried massaging his legs but it doesn?t help. I know I?m not on the right board but thought I would ask here as you?re all so knowledgeable.

He's probably quite dehydrated. If you can get rehydration sachets, these will really help. If not, water with a tiny pinch of salt helps.

Are they leg cramps as in muscle spasms or are his legs painful?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 24/03/2012 18:31

If you're worried call either NHS Direct or your out of hours GP. 5 days is far too long to let D&V go on without seeing a doctor.

He has been drinking without any problems, I?ve been alternating lucosade sport and water with dioralyte every hour I did think it could be dehydration but apart from aching muscles he?s not got any other symptoms.
I took him to the doctors 2 days ago but he didn?t give me anything for them he just said it?s a nasty gastroflu.
His legs hurt from his calf muscle right up the back of his legs Its not in a spasm just painful when he tries to move.

Is his leg hot? I'd get it checked out to be honest, give NHS direct a call. The last thing he needs is an infection there.

Viral gastroenteritis is characterized by intense muscle aches

Ok, I just found this on the internet. Thank you ladies, I will call NHS just to make sure.

I'm going to echo dioralite (vile stuff) but if he's able to take solids, mashed banana is zinc rich - lack of zinc causes cramps.

I hope he's on the mend quickly. Smile

Thank you so much xx
