the third time this week i've felt something scraping my chin look down and its my bra underwire!!!!! arrgghh I must spend a fortune.

AIBU to wonder why it happens?

Has anyone managed to poke them back and sew so securely that they don't reappear within days? I haven't.

The only time I've managed to sew it successfully was when I used the sewing machine and zigzagged it to buggery!

Do you wash your bras in the washing machine or hand wash?

Were they all the same type of bras? If so, time to switch.

TerrierM and PurpleR, yes I wash mine in the machine, contrary to clear instructions on the labels, and yes they are the same make and type, Fantasie 36FF so not cheap, but they fit better than any other make so I do get annoyed when the errant wire pops up, and yes,always from the same boob. Shesparkles, i've not considered trying the sewing machine, but will give it a go as I currently have two injured bras waiting for a miraculous cure. Thanks for the tip.

If its always the same size too you may have one breast slightly larger than the other (does one side bulge over the cup slightly more than the other?)

I think you need to ensure its that side that. Is fitted correctly maybe?

machine wash maybe its time to handwash.

Bra angels will keep them in their place,they have saved some of my bras.

Machine washing rubs away the coating on the ends of the wires. They then become sharp enough to poke through.

The other reason is the cup being too small as Kayano mentioned. It's almost always better to fit your bigger breast perfectly and have a little spare room in the other side.

When you sew them back in wrap a small amount of wool around the tip and superglue it - stops it poking back out. when you machine wash use a bra bag, it makes a huge difference

Yes, Kayano and Married, I certainly do have one side larger than the other, but it is the right one, and the wire popper is always the left, which I can only think is because I am left handed so maybe that breast gets more transferred action hence extra wear. Hoebag , of course you are quite right, just too lazy! yes they are fitted properly, large boobs need more than M&S 'expertise'. Thanks folks, will try superglue and wool and investigate other suggestions, but though I can see the sense of bra bags, still don't see why just the one side is affected.

My mother used to have bras that did this, and she would take the wires out before putting them in the machine. One day my dad found some wires on the kitchen table and put them in my pencil case thinking they were geometry equipment.

Ill be googling bra angels I think.
