About the freephone sex line numbers?

I've changed my name for patently obvious reasons. This is not something I want the world to know about me. I'm female, incase any of you think that this is a man.

When I was between the ages of 15-18, I used to dial those free sex chat line numbers that you get in the back of the likes of Chat magazine etc when my parents were at work. I had left school for a time after a cry for help suicide attempt and it was very easy to do as I was home alone a lot)

I widened my scoipe and started using web chats at my Uncle' when he was working. I got heavily into it and met a few guys who were a LOT older than me but had the same sexual fettishes as I did. One guy I saw for about a year and, when I was 18, I fell pregnant and had a miscarriage to him that my parents knew nothing about. Cue my second, very serious, suicide attempt.

My parents knew nothing of this but they never really gave a shit anyway. Obviously they knew about the suicide attempt but not the rea reason behind it.

After that, I was a bit of a whore for a while. I have long since put it all behind me and no-one ever knew any of it, except my Husband.

But I bought Chat (I think it was chat) a few month ago and saw that number still there and it's really been playing on my mind. What if other very young girls are calling these lines like I did? It's very easy to do and doen't show up on the bill.

Am I just blinkered by my own experiences or is this a real issue? I realise that they give these numbers free to women to get them to call but I was not a woman and no credit card was required.

Its a real issue. And I'm sorry you had such a hard time, although I'm glad to hear things are much better now.

Perhaps the ID and age issue is something to raise with your MP - you don't have to tell them details just that you phoned tghem underage and there were no checks. Or alternatively Trading Standards may take it up - they are based in your local council.

It really is far too eay for underage girls to call these liones. The men pay by credit card but any old (or young!) woman / girl can just call up, speak a few lines and dive right in.

I will definately have to take it to someone. It haunt me that other vulnerable girls could be (and probably are since I'm not unique) doing this. It's very, VERY adult stuff.

tbh its not an issue I was aware of and I am sure others aren't as well. Perhaps if you don't get anywhere with Trading Standards or MP you could get your local paper to raise it or een a national like the Daily Mail might be interested. Especially if presented as you being concerned as a mum.

I'm loathe to go to the Daily Fail with anything but this sounds right up thier street.

I will try my MP and trading standards first. Hopefully some of the MN feminists will read this thread too.

Can understand you not wanting to go to daily mail, but i also think they would be very interested. Good luck with this.
