but also allow us to edit other people's posts too? Grin

AIBU?

RuleBritannia · 22/03/2012 20:12

If you read through your message before you post, that equates to editing.

Swed · 22/03/2012 20:18

RuleBritannis not really because you post and review in the same moment.

YANBU. I wish people would edit my posts for me.

Whatmeworry · 22/03/2012 20:41

Quite a few discussion board systems allow you to edit your post for a few minutes after posting, that is very useful.

Starwisher · 22/03/2012 20:43

No!

YANBU. I wish people would octopus my posts for me.

pictish · 22/03/2012 20:47

YANBU! The no edit thing here is terrible. You can't correct your grammar or spelling, which I like to do.

JustHecate · 22/03/2012 20:47

preview message button takes you to a screen where your post looks exactly as it will when you post it. You can edit it. Then you press post. It won't post until you press post.

Ohhh. I just did it then, then added this. Going to press post now Grin

gingerfrizz · 22/03/2012 20:47

I wish people would write my post for me. I'm very lazy

Swed · 22/03/2012 20:50

"Go fuck yourself, Swed you far-arse, shit-face, fuckerrrrr"

could be altered for posterity to:

"Thank you, Swed, you're amazing"

OP posts:
nagynolonger · 22/03/2012 20:53

really I should let DH check my spelling like in RL but that wouldn't be right would it. We make a good team but I must keep MN secret from him.

usualsuspect · 22/03/2012 20:53

I would like timed edit thingie.

Swed · 22/03/2012 21:00

Noone seems very keen on the facility to edit others' posts?

OP posts:
JustHecate · 22/03/2012 21:43

ooh, the fun I could have with that. Grin

TheBigJessie · 22/03/2012 21:50

I thought I'd settle for the ability to insert the apostrophes I forgot move the ones I placed incorrectly, by accident.

But your idea sounds fab, actually. Could I move other people's my apostrophes out of fellow posters' posts? ,I just keep finding them there. They must have escaped from my posts. Obviously.

Swed · 22/03/2012 22:01

ooh yes, imagine the larks in Pedants' corner.

OP posts:
ImperialBlether · 22/03/2012 22:08

I don't think the threads would make any sense at all if they were edited. People would go blind trying to find errors that 54 people had complained about in the OP, that the OP had slyly changed afterwards. And all those bitchy comments would be changed, too, so we wouldn't know who was an utter twat.

MardyBra · 22/03/2012 22:10

Can you imagine the arguments?

"How dare you call me a cunt?"
"No I didn't. Read back."
"Yes you did, you cunt. You've edited it."
"Now you're calling me a cunt.".
"No I didn't. Read back.".

Ad infinitum.

SoupDragon · 22/03/2012 22:12

Is it national Ask For Stuff That's Already Been Rejected week?

TheBigJessie · 22/03/2012 22:13

Well, other forums have a "this post was edited at [time]" for "poster explains reasons" stamp on the bottom of an edited post.

Swed · 22/03/2012 22:14

SoupDragon - I don't think anyone has ever requested the ability to edit other people's posts.

MardyBra - LOL

Thank you, Swed, you're amazing.

QZ · 22/03/2012 23:18

Shock Looks like they've implemented it already then!

Kaluki · 23/03/2012 12:18

That would be good.

Then when we say something stupid and someone calls us on it later in the thread we can change/delete it and deny all knowledge of it and nobody can copy it and paste it later on to show you up?
Is that what you mean??
