What's with the current trend for wearing cheap and nasty fake sheepskin boots that are falling apart?

We were shopping in a large city the other day and I lost count of the number of young girls/women wearing boots that were literally falling off their feet, walking on the sides of them as the soles are so crap and just generally filthy.
Loads of stained, wet and stinky looking boots. Minging!

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 20/03/2012 10:21

Current trend? This has been going for years!

OhTheConfusion · 20/03/2012 10:23

YANBU at all.

Saski · 20/03/2012 10:24

I must be getting old because I don't understand the way young girls dress these days.
The self-tanner, the extreme side part/contrived messy hair, the extreme mascara, the overt gum-chewing, yes, the uggs. Oy.

Mrsjay · 20/03/2012 10:31

Its the pineapple messy on top hair and uggs i cant cope with Hmm

oldraver · 20/03/2012 10:36

I was walking behind a girl yesterday with the 'gone over on the side' UGGS could be fake, I would not know and couldn't understand why she would want to wear crappy footwear... my slippers are in better condition

Are they hard to walk in, as the ones I see DRAG they flipping feet

MissMogwi · 20/03/2012 10:38

DD1 keeps styling her hair with a really extreme side parting. What's it all about?

The see through leggings seem to be a new trend too. And not just teens. we can see your knickers!

Mrsjay · 20/03/2012 10:41

and wobble bums Grin I wonder what old people thought of our teen style Grin DD2 wants the flicky/curly hair she sees on the disney channel girls I do try and say they have a team of hairdressers with extenstions doing their hair but she still tries ,

ButteryBiscuitBase · 20/03/2012 10:46

Uh oh! I sport extreme side parting, lots of mascara, messy hair (sometimes up in a messy bun) I also have uggs (real but bought in the sale by my dp)

I feel a makeover coming on. I am not a young girl I'm 27, does that make it worse? (Please be kind!)

bjf1 · 20/03/2012 10:49

Oh God, that side parting thing going on. Makes them look like a cross between Arthur Scargill & Donald Trump.
Awful.

TheCunningStunt · 20/03/2012 10:51

Uggs are uggly. Fake or otherwise.

MissMogwi · 20/03/2012 10:52

Grin @ Arthur scargill.

sue52 · 20/03/2012 10:53

Hate that over stretched leggings stuffed into ugly Uggs. It suits no one. I must keep an eye open for the side parting look, I don't think it's reached these parts yet.

I don't mind Uggs (wouldn't wear them myself though), it's the foot-dragging walk that winds me up. I took a once-in-a-blue-moon trip into my local town yesterday and ended up feeling like shouting 'pick your feet up, walk properly!' into the air at random

MeeWhoo · 20/03/2012 11:01

I don't like the look of them but maily I am against them because I think they must be quite bad for your feet.

If you look at the people wearing them, most of them have bent ankles. I don't think they offer any kind of support for walking outside the house. Anyone care to conduct a survey to see how many ankles were sprained wearing those, and was the percentage higher than with stilettos?

landofsoapandglory · 20/03/2012 11:13

My leggings aren't overstretched and my Uggs are real so I don't walk on the sides of them!

Some girls look nice with that exagerated side parting IMVHO.

I picked DS1(17) up from college the other lunchtime and a girl was walking down the street with very, very thin leggings and a short top on. (My opaques are thicker) She had a pair of very nice lacy knickers underneath that the whole world could see. I just wondered why on earth her parents/friends/whoever had not told her!Confused

Saski · 20/03/2012 11:45

I think the extreme side part in a messy head of hair is not a good look full stop. A semi-extreme part can look quite nice when done so in a sleek way, I'd consider it a good look. It's just like anything, butterybiscuit, if you're ticking all the youth-trend boxes it's probably not a good thing but you should keep the bits that you like.

Saski · 20/03/2012 11:48

When I see Ugg's worn by a normal person with super-tight jeans and a nice jumper, I can concede the inherent cuteness of them. Problem is, they've been irretrievably co-opted to the point of no return.

vintagewarrior · 20/03/2012 13:10

I am nearly 40 and sport real uggs daily, bed head and massive mascara, however would rather look like that than be seen dead in anything from Boden, John Lewis or Next!

Conchita · 20/03/2012 13:15

I saw someone wearing fake Uggs with a high wedge heel last week. Lordy, i nearly puked on the pavement!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 20/03/2012 13:19

"She had a pair of very nice lacy knickers underneath that the whole world could see. I just wondered why on earth her parents/friends/whoever had not told her!" Because she most likely already knew! Grin

Mrsjay · 20/03/2012 13:19

I have never bought anything from Boden John Lewis or next either vintage still wouldnt pursuade me that fuggs/uggs look anything less than slippers , I do agree with the poster who said they look fine with jeans and a jumper , but shorts/shorts skirts/seethrough leggings Hmm
