After all, they are a hotel, right?? That's what they do, right??? NO!!

Have just spent a total of an hour over the last few weeks trying to book a room in their Taunton hotel. First they booked the wrong date and failed to email me to confirm booking so I chased them.

Turns out they have booked one room on two separate nights instead of 2 rooms on one night. And at a totally different (ie more expensive) rate than promised.

Plus they have the most awful house-style hold music that makes me want to commit murder. Who the hell wants to listen to that???????

Arrrghhhhhhhhh. Moral of the story - never book a room with Crappy Yet Expensive Holiday Inn. Angry

Never liked Holiday inn. There are other brands that cost less and offer far better amenities and comfort.

Why did you book on the phone though? Virtually all hotels offer online bookings. You get better rates and there's no chance of your booking being incorrect.

YANBU

DH has to use this sort of hotel on a weekly basis but avoids HI like the plague itself

service is terrible, the poor front of house staff have very little grasp of english so can't answer queries, and have almost no managerial support when on 'the floor'.

We used the holiday inn in Bracknell to visit Lego Land. The idea was it would be nicer than a Premier Inn.

It wasn't it was just more expensive. Food was dear, booze was £££ and the fold down children's bed was declared uncomfortable. DD2 said the mattress on the floor (which is what the smaller child gets at Premier Inn) is more comfortable.

I've stayed in an awful lot of HI over the last 12 years, and generally I've been very happy with them. Never had trouble with online booking at all.

Travelodge on the other hand are now absolutely rank

Its Premier Inn all the way for us. I hate HI.

I use holiday inn quite a lot when we are going somewhere as a family and I've always found them to be very helpful. We have had the odd mix up with rooms on arrival but this has always been sorted straight away. I always book online as the rates are better and you have instant confirmation.

I have just booked two nights in one near Reading for a trip to legoland in June - £128 for two nights dinner bed and breakfast for a family of 4, great value!

I use the Holiday Inn whenever I can in the UK as they are reliable, clean, and good value for money. My only gripe is that the wifi isnt free.

Hebiegebies · 19/03/2012 10:14

Why not book on the web?

Agree Premier Inn is the way to go

PushedToTheEdge · 19/03/2012 11:32

I go to their website, enter the dates, pay with the CC, get confirmation email. Simples.
