A small bit of background. Have 2 DDs. DD1 not getting on well at school. We are about to take her out (new school year).

DD2 has eczema, allergies, asthma, generally quite poorly.

My parents live in Ireland (I'm Irish!). We are very close. They are fit and well but not getting any younger iykwim.

Always toyed with the idea of being closer to them.

Now it is seeming like a possibility. we could rent our house out and just rent over in Ireland. I'm afraid to sell up in case we don't settle in, leave our options open etc.

Are we mad in this current economic climate? DH and I have jobs thy we like and we are secure. I haven't lived in Ireland for 23 years!?

Just interested to hear what everyone thinks? We would be leaving behind a lot of friends, for me some very close ones and other members of my family (siblings and families). We are not close to DH family even though they are nearby.

Both DDs in KS1 at school.

do it

RuleBritannia · 18/03/2012 13:50

Yes, do it and your DH's parents could keep an eye on your place if it's handy for them.

cantspel · 18/03/2012 13:51

Can you get jobs in ireland? If so then do it, but i wouldn't go without a job lined up.

mumknowsbezzie · 18/03/2012 13:54

jobs?
paying for medical care?

Upsticksandgo · 18/03/2012 13:57

Mumknowsbezzie - it's northern Ireland, sorry didn't make that clear. My job is only part time. DH would stay here until he had a full time job.

Job in Ireland?

Upsticksandgo · 18/03/2012 14:16

As above trollopdollop. DH works in a job that he can do here or there, iykwim. It would only be my job we would be giving up. I hope I could get another part time job? You see that's why I'm worried in this climate!
