...to think that we should ALL stop feeding the trolls - don't answer their threads!

Another stupid thread seems to have popped up (the 'I'm sick to my stomach' blah blah) and the sheer amount of these threads is strange isn't it?!

Aibu in thinking we shouldn't feed these silly trolls? Isn't it the worse thing wr could do? (and yes, I am guilty of this too - feeding them I mean)

Leave 'em hanging! Grin

YABU!

It's 6:10 in the morning, I haven' slept yet, they're keeping my mind off things...

CeliaDeBohun · 18/03/2012 06:11

YANBU I wish people wouldn't bump these threads Hmm

ilikecandyandrunning · 18/03/2012 06:13

I know frothy, far too early but my dd has woken up for a feed so when she suckles away, I mumsnet!

stainesmassif · 18/03/2012 06:24

I absolutely agree. It would be so much more satisfying to see them ranting into the ether rather than thinking anyone here actually gives a fuck what they think.

CeliaDeBohun · 18/03/2012 06:34

I was tempted to post a reply to every other thread on the page with a quick YABU/YANBU so the troll one would drop off but got to get DS's breakfast and haven't got the energy anyway. Maybe a Brew would help.

Sparklingbrook · 18/03/2012 07:24

But I am crap at telling the difference. Then when the possible troll starts having a go at other posters, I feel the need to stick up for them. Sad

QuickQuickSloe · 18/03/2012 07:34

Bumping this as the Billy goat's nemesis thread is gathering replies at speed.

Yanbu.

It does mean I have to sit on my hands. I would also love to see an empty troll thread and no one answering back.

TBH I think it takes a while on MN to cotton on to these things. I'd have answered a troll thread in my first couple of years here. These days I find them easy to spot so don't get drawn in.

Tanith · 18/03/2012 08:08

But some of them are absolutely hilarious!

I agree, ignore the antagonistic wind-ups, but we've just had a pervy from sex tv in the In The News section and the responses have had me crying with laughter Grin

And ignore the Poo Troll?!!! Nooo!!! You can't mean it!

ilikecandyandrunning · 18/03/2012 08:36

Poo troll?! Sex tv? Links please Tanith!

I agree that sometimes it is funny to answer them - that latest one on Aibu about deBernier or whatever his name is, is very odd though!

OP posts:
theodorakis · 18/03/2012 09:26

I wish i could control myself but some of the lunatics around at the moment just make me so mad. I don't even mind an intelligent troll but some of the things going on at the moment are just idiotic fusspots with a huge chip on their shopulder trolling to offend people who do not share their views or obsessions that verge on being a little bit weird.
I have been hurt and affected by some of the vile stuff around lately, this is partly my fault for reading it and partly their problem for being so mad.

Tanith · 18/03/2012 09:28

Can't do links - on the phone :(

The sex tv title starts: Hi - I represent Babes Tv (or something like that) and it's on the second page of the In The News section Smile

Tanith · 18/03/2012 12:59

The BBC are broadcasting a programme on BBC3 tomorrow night (Monday) at 21.00 about trolls: The Anti-Social Network

Thanks Tanith that sounds v interesting.

TheMonster · 18/03/2012 13:20

I never spot the troll threads.

bibbityisaporker · 18/03/2012 13:36

Yanbu, I do too, but as hq will not tolerate anyone posting even the slightest hint that this might be a troll on the thread, then people will carry on feeding them. Am sick to the back teeth of it all.

Whatmeworry · 18/03/2012 13:40

I agree that sometimes it is funny to answer them - that latest one on Aibu about deBernier or whatever his name is, is very odd though!

Its a fred about a fred that's on the FWR section, in "dense rant" mode.

Overall I agree with not feeding trolls, I think diversion into other areas is far funnier and also probably very frustrating for said troll.

And no one will delete jokes as troll markers...

Sparklingbrook · 18/03/2012 13:42

What caused the demise of the suing your Mum re not BF thread in the end?

ilikecandyandrunning · 18/03/2012 14:21

Theodorakis - don't get upset! I may find some posts irritating or stupid etc but I don't get upset. People on here don't know you etc so don't let them upset you x

Sparklingbrook · 18/03/2012 14:21

There's a new weird thread now saying Mumsnet is a sexist name. Grin

JustHecate · 18/03/2012 14:24

No.

Shaln't

It's sunday. The children are ignoring me and if I can't play with the trolls I will have to go and do my ironing.

Why do you want to do that to me, eh? Why?

TapirBackRider · 18/03/2012 14:29
Blush

My name is Tapir, and I fed the troll.....but, but, but, I did confess to MNHQ and they have forgiven me reported the OP.

I was hoping to get back and read the resulting fred before it was deleted.

Seriously though, some are very skilled, and can't always be spotted immediately, and others are just too funny.

SophieNeveu · 18/03/2012 14:31

I reported the sexist MN thread!
