That puts sliced banana on my chilli con carne?

And then stuffs it all in a pita bread?

Because, right now, my friends seem to be questioning my sanity...

There has to be someone else in England who does this, right? Right?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 05/03/2012 23:57

I'm not in England, don't do this... but might, now you've mentioned it! Grin

FrothyDragon · 05/03/2012 23:59

It is absolutely gorgeous. And if you're a wimp like me, takes the edge off the chilli a bit...

My friend has just asked if I've taken a blow to the head... :( Ouch.

Errmmmm..no. I smother mine with sour cream and grated cheese.
Use tortillas sometimes instead of pitta which is a pita.
Have garnished, ooh, hark at me, with tomato and avocado before.
Have also had chocolate added to the mix.
And I adore chilli on toast.
But never banana. What put you onto that idea and is it nice...

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 00:43

Oooh, another one for the grated cheese brigade, but only if I'm out of bananas.

My dad actually started me on it as a child, it's just stuck ever since... Grin

my2centsis · 06/03/2012 00:59

Are you pregnant and this is your wierd craving Grin

I'm another grated cheese and sour cream fan.

I don think adding banana to it would ever cross my mind! May have to try it before I mock it!

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 01:06

If I am pregnant, it's the immaculate conception.... ;)

ChaosTrulyReigns · 06/03/2012 01:15

I'm sure there's a curry with banana in, so it's not beyond the realms of normality but I'm not going to try it you utter fruitcake.

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 01:18

Nooooo!

Don't kill me, you ratbag.

I know how to make a banana penguin.

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 01:23

Wait, what...

A banana penguin?

I want to know more...

OP posts:
MooncupandPizza · 06/03/2012 01:26

I also want to know more about banana penguins.

And I want to know where frothydragon's dad got the banana on chili idea

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 01:29

TBH, my dad is a little weird... But he also spent a lot of time travelling as a child, so think it was somewhere on his travels.

OP posts:
NarkedPuffin · 06/03/2012 01:30

It kind of makes sense. The sweetness cancels out the heat of the chilli.

Still odd though Grin

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 01:39

Sigh. I've just had to admit to my friend that the general consensus is "yeah, that's weird..." Not going to hear the end of this... :(

I love chicken Simla (sp?) which is like a very mild curry served with pasta and we always have bananas and sliced tomatoes on top Grin it's lovely!

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 01:46

YES! Another one!

We have a weirdos corner oover here, Lurkio. So far, it consists of... me?

OP posts:
Ample · 06/03/2012 01:48

Not quite the same but I used to love bacon and banana pizza..

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 03:04

I once made a fruit pizza in high school... My mother thought I'd lost the plot...

Jacksmania · 06/03/2012 03:14

You guys are all bonkers. Everyone knows that the only fruit that goes in or on chili is finely chopped pineapple.

catinboots · 06/03/2012 04:40

Have I just entered some sort of weird parallel universe? Confused

Moln · 06/03/2012 04:47

don't think I'd like it - maybe in a curry

was it a chilli your friend made? Did you bring your own banana?

fuzzpig · 06/03/2012 05:04

No! My body weight in cheese, guacamole, salsa and sour cream all go with chilli.

Bananas go much better with pancakes and chocolate sauce.

izzyizin · 06/03/2012 05:46

I always put chocolate in chilli con carne and next time I make one I'll chuck in a banana too but Hmm at the notion of stuffing a good chilli in pita bread when it's so easy to buy or make flour tortillas and deep fry them into tacos

jojane · 06/03/2012 07:58

My usbands family have banana with curry, saying that FIL has banana with most things along with a croissant or crumpet!!
