US Citizenship

I don't know where else to put this that gets enough traffic.

Namechanger.

If there is anyone out there who has renounced US citizenship that would be willing to speak to me about it, I'd be very grateful.

I really really need to talk to someone about what this would feel like.

I don't mean someone who was maybe born there but has parents of a different origin but someone who grew up American.

It's one of those things that no one really wants to discuss and it's very hard to find someone to talk it through.

I haven't but I've thought about it. I wasn't born in the US though, and only lived there for 7 years. Why do you want to renounce it?

I wonder if his site is any good to you?

It says you can contact them (they and their families have renounced) and there are lots of FAQs etc...

Worra
Thanks. I've seen that. I didn't realise you could contact them...

I am a dual national with a lapsed US passport, it would have taken my Dad to come to the embassy with me to renew it but he passed away 2 years ago so I can't.
