Ok, I know its silly and trivial but I can't help getting a little bit irked when you have a celebrity or someone on a show and they say 'oh, this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do' or 'this is the hardest decision I've ever had to make'!

Ok, what they are doing or deciding between might be difficult or potentially life changing (eg winning money on a game show or something) but is it really the hardest decision you've ever had to make? Really? In the grand scheme of things it's just a game show (or whatever)! It's hardly life or death!

Stop making a mountain out of a molehill!

Grrrr!

Rant over

no disrespect but what are you on about??

ImperialBlether · 03/03/2012 12:27

She means that when you get a grade Z celebrity judging a "talent" competition and says "This decision" (ie between someone who can't sing and someone else who really can't sing) "is the hardest decision I've made in my life" then said celebrity is talking crap.

HTH.

ImperialBlether · 03/03/2012 12:28

I don't think that sentence followed any kind of grammatical structure, but hey ho.

extremepie · 03/03/2012 12:29

Y'know, when you watching something like dancing on ice and the celebrity says 'oh this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do'.

It's difficult, yes, but at the end of the day isn't that exaggerating (sp?) just a bit?

It's just an ice dancing competition! (or whatever)

It's just a bit annoying!

Yes Imperial, exactly.

YANBU op I agree with you, it's slightly patronising to all us 'normal people' who have a proper life with tough horrible choices to make all the time! But at the end of the day I suppose it's on tv!

susiedaisy · 03/03/2012 12:31

Only tv!

ImperialBlether · 03/03/2012 12:40

It's so predictable, isn't it? It's said just as frequently as the wail "But I really want this" or (my favourite, when it's spoken by a teenager) "I've wanted this all of my life."

Archemedes · 03/03/2012 12:43

Its all about the 'journey' op ;)

extremepie · 03/03/2012 12:48

Yeah, that's another good one Imperial, it's pretty funny in a way!

I can't help thinking when they say that sort of thing - well, if this is the hardest thing you've ever had to do you've had a pretty easy life!

But if they say they find it quite easy people think: 'smug cow' and won't vote for them.

Mrsjay · 03/03/2012 14:35

oh yes or saying to an xfactor contestant this is going to be the hardest thing you will have to do feck off they are 18 and singing in telly !!

Mrsjay · 03/03/2012 14:36

eeek the journey makes me a bit sick maybe its the emotional Rollercoaster doing that Grin
