My neighbours dogs

My neighbour has right of way over our yard however she has two dogs which she allows to run around our yard. They poo and wee all over her bit of the yard which is fine by me but I'm not happy about them doing same over out bit. My DH doesn't think I should say anything even though the dogs have smashed 4 of my garden ornaments would I be unreaseonable to say somethign?

I don't think you'd BU at all. The fact she hasn't apologised or cleaned it up suggests she might not be very receptive though.

I wouldn't be happy about poo and wee all over her yard either to be honest. The stink must be awful especially in hot weather. I daren't even think about the flies !!!

Needs sorting, maybe invite her round for a coffee and have a word.

we have only been here a couple of months but the stink indeed is very bad! i've asked her to keep the dogs on a leash when they are crossing out bit of the yard but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears! We have the same landlord so I'm really not wanting to rock the boat iyswim

How come she has right of way over your yard?

Talk to your landlord about it since you share the same one.

Were you made aware of this 'right of way' before you move in?

Can you not make a chicken wire pathway for them to use? Stop the dogs using your garden as a toliet?

Why would it be rocking the boat with your landlord? Surely they would want to know if their property is covered in shit?

No way should you have to put up with that. It's disgusting, the least they could do is clean it up!

As a dog owner I'd say report her to the rspca. She's a lazy dirty cow. Bang on her front door and demand she picks up the poop and hoses down with a vetinary disinfectant.

How dare she foul your living environment?
Where do your chidren play? Where do you hang your laundry and enjoy a cuppa in the summer sunshine?

Be aware that if it is YOUR yard that stinks at some point you may get a visit from environmental health and order for YOU to clean and disenfect it! The landlord may then blame you.

I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't have a dog if you aren't willing to pick up after it, just as you shouldn't have a baby if you don't wanna change nappies.

Let your landlord know.

You dio need to address this situation with your neighbour, pronto, I'm afraid. The stink must be terrible. You have the right to enjoy your back yard as it is an extension of your house.

Thanks all for your responses! Her bit of the yard is fenced off with a gate but she has to let them over our bit to get to her bit. I've asked DH to put a gate up to prevent them coming near the kitchen door (they scrabble at it and leave muddy paw marks) and I've complained about this but she seems very thick skinned!

She's lived there a couple of years and we've only been here a couple of months it's a very small village and her brother lives over the road. Not sure if landlord would side with her because she's been their tenant a lot longer. Already dreading summer cos I know I won't be able to sit outside because of the smell and the constant barking. I guess we should consider moving but it's a great house in a great location and really don't want to!

Environmental health won't get involved with this kind of thing, it's too minor. Neither will your local animal warden. And don't even bother thinking about the RSPCA, they struggle to deal with animal welfare correctly, let alone turd issues.

That said, I'm not trying to belittle the nuisance of it because it's horrible and disgusting, but this is an issue for your LL. If your pleas so far have fallen on deaf ears, you will have to ask them to get involved.

They pooed a couple of times on our bit and I did chuck it back on her bit but they wee a lot - the stains are up the walls and doors of our storage rooms and this stinks just as bad as the poo. VinegarTits I like your way of thinking! Going have to have strong words with her I think but I'm not great at confrontation I just wish she'd be more considerate.

You shouldn't have to but try stuff from pet shop that deters dogs fouling. She sounds like a lovely neighbour
