He is playing games. I made dinner one handed because dd2 was crying and he was too busy playing to pick her up. I really need to get on with job applications because we desperately need one of us to find a job.

I'm really surprised you didn't pull the plug on his game and hand him the baby!
You definitely need to get his attitude sorted, it's not on!

Not ideal I do worry about getting everything done. He helped more before redundancy. He has becone lazier and grumpier over the last couple of weeks.

Helping?

Hecubasdaughter · 02/03/2012 21:22

I mean doing things around the house etc.

But that's just doing what you do when you live in a house. He's not helping you, he's doing what needs to be done (or not, as I suspect). If neither of you has a job and both of you are living in the same house, then your situations are equal and it is quote simple to see that the chores and childcare should be split down the middle.

Do neither of you think that this is how it should be? If not, why not?

Where do people dig up these useless twats? You need to go medieval on his ass.

AyeRobot · 02/03/2012 22:18

Bof, your jadedness with useless men is showing....Hide it quick Grin

I would imagin its pretty emasculating - not tht we live in a gender specific role designated society - for a bloke to be redundant, reduced to baby minding and pretty much non functional. lets face it, the women pass off MNing all day every day as 'I only look after the baby' (who must be chewing wallpaper and shoving tinned peas in plug sockets), yet a redundant male is supposed to be au pair/nanny/manny/paid for cleaner/chef all at once.

*Where do people dig up these useless twats?

thank fuck he hasnt got SPD, MIL induced PND, OCD blah blah blah to add to his failings.

Chirpychick2010 · 02/03/2012 22:22

AyeRobot · 02/03/2012 22:43

hehehehe, troisgarcons. Where did you learn to dislike women so much?

Poor emasculated men, expected to do "women's" work when both are in exactly the same situation.

I think I got used to doing everything myself in the past.

I kicked him off last night and managed to edit my CV and do one application. He's still asleep so DDs permitting I'll do a bit more this morning.

It's his child, as much as yours, therefore he is 50% responsible for looking after said child.

I would stop doing anything for him, if he refuses to do his share. You cooked the dinner, so should have dished up enough for yourself and dc and put the rest in the freezer. Don't do his laundry, or anything out of your way to assist him. He is either part of a family or he isn't. It is really not on to let you struggle with everything by yourself, while he sits on his arse playing games and then eats the dinner that you made.

Serious words would be had in my house - games are what you do when you haven't got anything more pressing to attend to.

fedupofnamechanging · 03/03/2012 08:56

Wake him up Hecubasdaughter. Tell him to look after dd while you do some applications, then you will take over while he does some. He's not going to find a job, steaming in his pit all morning.
