to really hate Tuesdays?

I've always hated them, for as long as I can remember. They're like a gaping hole in the week, they're always dull and pointless. When I was a teacher they always seemed to be the day I had the worst timetable. Now that I'm a SAHM it's the one day in the week when there's no local toddler group running and so I end up doing the grocery shopping and then trying to entertain DS for the rest of the day. It just seems to never end.

Am I the only one who hates Tuesdays?

I don't like them a lot, but sunday nights (fretting and getting ready for it to be monday) and wednesday (oooooonllllyyy half way through the weekkkkkkkkkkkkkk said in eye-rolly teenage angsty way ) are worse.

Gumby · 28/02/2012 12:25

I hate sundays
Pointless boring days and thenafter lunch the dreaded Sunday night feeling creeps in

Pascha · 28/02/2012 12:26

I like tuesdays because I get to have lunch with my dad. I find Thursdays more awful.

TheSinglePringle · 28/02/2012 12:26

I also hate tuesdays. I have to go food shopping but keep delaying it because I really can't be arsed. I also have nothing to do on a Tuesday.

JosieRosie · 28/02/2012 12:27

I hate Tuesdays too - they're just 'meh', neither one thing nor the other. I don't mind Wednesday because that's officially Hump Day (stop sniggering) because it gets you over the 'hump' of the week and it's downhill to the weekend from then on Grin

imnotmymum · 28/02/2012 12:28

Every day is precious that why they call it the present !! Kung fu panda me thinks !! Do something great on a Tuesday and change your mindset although Tuesday not my fav day due to ferrying kids to and from various clubs for 2.5 hours after school football, netball 1, netball 2, zumba, karate .. bottle of wine makes it all better

CailinDana · 28/02/2012 12:29

Strangely I don't remember ever having the Sunday night feeling, though I can understand it. I really liked secondary school so I suppose I didn't get those long years of dreading Monday. I think I always had triple maths (yes TRIPLE maths) on Tuesday though, which made me nauseous. I wonder if Tuesday and I will ever make peace with one another?

Yeah I consider Wednesday..ahem..hump day too Josie, I feel like the worst of the week is over, plus I have a nice group to go to. I really need to find something (other than bloody grocery shopping) to do on a Tuesday to make it better. I have searched and searched for a toddler group and there seems to be literally none within driving distance on a Tuesday. Soft play is a pain in the arse because DS doesn't actually want to go to the play area, he wants to go to the cafe and hang off people's legs and shout at them! Oh Tuesday, get lost, please!!

I only like weekends Grin

Can you make Tuesday coffee morning day? Invite a few parents from one of your groups round for coffee and with any luck they might invite you back on another Tuesday and so on. They are probably having a dull time on a Tuesday too.

CailinDana · 28/02/2012 12:40

That's a good idea carrots. I'm pretty new to the area, so while I chat to mums at groups I don't have many friends as such yet. Hmm but it would be good to organise something I think. I'm a bit reluctant to do it in my house - a few of the children are a bit, em, boisterous shall we say, but maybe I could arrange to go to a cafe....I shall put my thinking cap on.

Is there a church/village/scout hall you could hire? Some are really cheap. There is one here that is £6 an hour. You only need a few parents to chip in and you have a mini group for the day with loads of room for the dcs to run around and be noisy. You could take it in turns to bring a packet of biscuits and a few tea bags and you are sorted.

A cafe with a little play area would be an easier option though.

As summer comes around you could arrange to meet some parents in the park too.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 28/02/2012 12:49

Yeh, you gotta make Tuesday your best day of the week - see it as a challenge !

Either make it coffee morning/ meet in cafe day OR see if you can find a toddler group that meets Tues (even if a bit further afield ? - there are often more of them than you've heard about once you look into it !)

When my two were small I used to start every day with a toddler group unless I knew of an NCT coffee morning that was on etc.

The other option is to look for a creche alongside a gym or swimming pool and give yourself a little time to yourself.

Nectar · 28/02/2012 14:01

I like Tuesday mornings, I stop off at the newsagents after school run and pick up my favourite magazines, Closer and OK to read in my lunch breakGrin

MrsWifty · 28/02/2012 16:48

Tuesday is the second step into a darkened room - more here:

This Nemesis has a name and its name is Tuesday.

MrsKittyFane · 28/02/2012 17:03

I love Tuesday! It's my day off!
Wednesday I hate, too far away from Saturday and I have 4 Year 9 groups back to back :( :(

CailinDana · 28/02/2012 17:43

Ha that article is good MrsWifty, it pretty much says everything I feel. I may have to dream up a regular treat for myself like yours Nectar, that might brighten things up a bit.

The good news is, this Tuesday is nearly over. It was relatively painless, though ridiculously long as usual.

I really like Tuesdays. All the shops are less busy early on in the week so I do supermarket shopping in peace. I always found it to be an easier day as no one is yet too stressed by the week.

I really like Mondays too though. This comes from living in the middle of no where and being so grateful to get to school and to see my friends and have something to do!

Hate the weekend actually. Everywhere is rammed full of people trying to have "fun" or get things done all day Saturday and making a bloody racket on the way back from the pub in the evening.Sunday everyone is out on bikes or jogging and being horribly rude if god forbid you need to use your car on the road to actually get to work. Blurgh.

Agree with nectar, and heat
It's the little things that make each day bearable Grin
