about the state of my hair?!
I used to dye my hair loads of crazy bright colours and all was well, now my hair is very white blonde.
I found an awesome product that marketed itself as like an eyeshadow for hair, ie: quick to put on and easy to wash out.
Stupidly i was convinced but now it wont wash out and has clung to my hair... I start a new bloody job on weds!!!!
What shall I do? Its faded from purple to pink, but as my hair is so light it is very noticeable even when hair is up as I used it all over the ends and streaks at the front. stupid stupid....

Any chance it's the sort of job where you need to wear a hat?

pinkstinks · 27/02/2012 17:32

Could you maybe get a wash in colour & dye it brown to cover up all the colour?

cookielove · 27/02/2012 19:12

I agree, i would get a brown/dark brown/deep red and cover it all with that, or if doesn't actually look really bad just go in with it how it is. You could do a bun, or a french twist.

MissMogwi · 27/02/2012 19:14

There's a product you can get from Boots or Superdrug that strips the hair, I can't remember what it's called now though.

Imnotaslimjim · 27/02/2012 19:17

The stuff from Boots is called "colour b4" and is about £6 a box. It does work well though

Its most likely not washing out because you hair is bleahed. Get some vosene (or similar) and wash it repeatedly. It should pull the remaining colour out for you. Condition it well afterwards though as it will strip all the oils out of your hair too

DurhamDurham · 27/02/2012 19:20

Could you carry off the Sinead O'Connor look? (without the strange behaviour) Smile

TheMonster · 27/02/2012 19:29

Just dye it brown.

Shutupanddrive · 27/02/2012 19:31

Dye it brown

dwpanxt · 27/02/2012 19:31

What's wrong with leaving it as it is?

FriedSprout · 27/02/2012 19:33

Head and shoulders - the standard one. Strips colour out very well and nice and cheap. Hope the job goes well

Mandy2003 · 27/02/2012 19:35

I don't think you should dye white blonde hair straight to brown. As I recall by doing that the colour you will achieve is actually green (well, greenish khaki). A friend told me that when a hairdresser is doing that colour change there's several stages they have to go through.

Hope you can get it solved, good luck with the new job!

GlueSticksEverywhere · 27/02/2012 19:40

I wouldnt risk dying it brown either.

abrakebabra · 27/02/2012 19:43

Are you subscribed to Groupon? I often by groupon vouchers for a colour and cut for £29. Worth a look?

GavisconJunkie · 27/02/2012 19:46

Dye it brown.

messymammy · 27/02/2012 19:50

Don't dye it straight brown, my sister has just done this and now her hair is green.
Ash like Kelly Osbourne?

rhondajean · 27/02/2012 19:51

You really need to find the money to go get it sorted by a professional somehow.

Beg borrow steal.

Anything else you put on yourself at this point is an unknown as to how it will react and you don't want to have to go to work Wednesday with muddy green hair.

rhondajean · 27/02/2012 19:51

Ooh cross post with messy mammy!

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 27/02/2012 19:53

I agree - get it sorted by a professional and beg, borrow or steal (well, not literally!) to get the money to do it.

gamerwidow · 27/02/2012 19:53

I think you would be better off dyeing it red than brown. In order to go from bleach blonde to brown in the salon you normal have to dye the hair red then put brown over the top.

pinkstinks · 27/02/2012 20:23

ah thanks everyone, been washing it about four more times and it seems it is slowly fading, i think because of the bleach it is more porous and so the colour has stuck!
definately not going brown!!! it would go very wrong as my hair is very white, ie with lots of toner use etc so i know the brown wouldnt go brown iyswim

If worse comes to worse i could put a bun ring in or something i suppose as luckily i only mostly did the ends! Theres nothing wrong with purple/pink hair I just want to look as professional as i can on weds not like a bad dye job!

Got another box of bleach as a last resort! had to beg borrow and steal just to get that, dont drive and v. far away from nearest boots but my friend is a star!

fingers crossed!!

Pink sitcks, its you're going to bleach it again to get the pink out, google how to do a bleavh bath, its a little gentler on the hair and just as effective. And only put it on the coloured bits, as long as your careful it will stay even

keepingupwiththejoneses · 28/02/2012 09:47

I don't think you should dye white blonde hair straight to brown. As I recall by doing that the colour you will achieve is actually green (well, greenish khaki).
This will happen if you dye straight from bleach blonde.
OP get a reddish dye then a brown and apply them in that order, it will be fine, even a cheap one.

DO not bleach it again it will break within an inch of your head.
Those things you put on should have a warning not to put on bleached hair. Bleached hair sucks in colour like mad.

fedupandtired · 28/02/2012 10:03

Please don't re-bleach it. Your hair will break off. Not a good look and I speak from experience.

I'm deadly serious, you put bleach on top of bleach, having pink will be the least of your worries and you'll end up having to go to the hairdressers anyway to have it all cut off.

Stick a reddy brown on it if you really must cover it up, anything but bleaching it again. I've bleached mine for years and had to stop because it was breaking off (from accidentally getting small amounts of bleach on already bleached hair when doing the roots). My fringe looked ridiculous and the rest just broke off randomly. I love having blonde hair but I like actually having hair more.

Proceed with extreme caution.
