We were meant to go to the petting zoo last Sunday but DH and an alarm failure i.e he didn't set it, meant we missed it and had two dissapointed children, I took them to outdoor play instead but they were still upset.

I've bought my own alarm and they are looking forward to going tomorrow.

My sis has posted on FB that she wants to see the kids tomorrow. She is moving away on Monday. I had assumed she'd be packing and wouldn't have time to see the dc. I am seeing her on the evening.

This is how IABU according to DH....

He told me we would not be going to the petting zoo again because we need to tidy up the bedroom and my sister wants to see the kids so she can have them while we sort out the bedroom. I said, no, the kids are looking forward to the farm we will ask them what they want to do.

I am bitch. My sister is moving away and I'm not even bothered Hmm. She is moving to sodding Derby, not the fucking moon. It's only two bloody hours. She is coming back for the weekend in three weeks, and coming away with us for my birthday in April and again in May for dd2's birthday. She is back again in July twice for her own and my other sisters' birthday. And then again in August for my mums birthday. And then again in....

Take the kids to the Zoo!

Fuck the housework. You will see your sister soon. Let the kids have a nice day out!

saintmerryweather · 25/02/2012 17:56

I'd rather see my sister if she was moving 2 hours away, my children would have to deal with their disappointment and go to the petting zoo another day

Olbasoil · 25/02/2012 17:56

Can you not all go to the petting zoo together..... your bedroom can't be that untidy!

gemma4d · 25/02/2012 17:56

If sister wanted to see them that badly she should have arranged, or at least mentioned, it earlier. Zoooooooo.

PeneloPeePitstop · 25/02/2012 17:57

Well your DH should have got his act together last week.

BobblyGussets · 25/02/2012 17:58

I hope no-one called you a bitch Dooin. . If my DH presumed to tell me what we would and wouldn't be doing, well I would be telling him what I was going to do.

Is this the sister with the dog? Because you don't really owe her much if it is. She can fit around you.

I hope things are good for you, you sound like you have had a bit of a time of it reently.

whiskyfudge · 25/02/2012 17:58

Get sis to take them to the zoo and you two can spend the day shagging tidying the bedroom.

ripsishere · 25/02/2012 17:59

Zoooooooooooooooo. Much more fun than auntie.

BillyBollyBandy · 25/02/2012 17:59

If DSIS is that bothered she could go to the zoo with you?

jelliebelly · 25/02/2012 17:59

Can't sis come to the zoo with you?

CMOTDibbler · 25/02/2012 17:59

yanbu - take the kids to the farm. Not like your sister won't be back for a year

MonaLotte · 25/02/2012 17:59

Can DH stay at home and tidy the bedroom and you, sister and DC go to the zoo?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/02/2012 17:59

DH tidies bedroom, you take DCs to petting zoo, easy...

Witchofthenorth · 25/02/2012 18:01

You are not being a bitch and YANBU. Kids were promised the petting zoo after their disappointment sat week. You will be seeing sister in the evening and if your DH is that bothered about the bedroom then he can stay home and clean. IMO the kids trump this time.

D0oinMeCleanin · 25/02/2012 18:03

She is the one with the dog although has relinquished all rights to him to my Dad (it was him or me) because no-one bothered to train him not to eat the door frames and she is moving into rented housing, plus he has a strong bond with my dad's other two hounds so it would not be fair on him to take him. She thinks she might adopt a Jug??? Confused or other small fluffy dog. It can stay here when she comes home for vists because one of my Dad's is dog-aggressive with strange dogs Hmm

We will be going to the zoo if that is what the dc say they want to do, even if I have to take them alone. If does not want to come, then he can go and visit my sister or tidy the bedroom Grin

You and your sister take the DCs to the zoo while DH tidies the bedroom. Problem solved.

overmydeadbody · 25/02/2012 18:04

YANBU and you are not a bitch.

Go to the zoo in morning with kids. See your Dsis in the evening. Sorted. If she wants to see kids she comes to zoo or sees them in afternoon.

the petting zoo will not take all day.

Tidying bedroom can wait. Or your DP can do it alone, or tonight. How messy can it possibly be?

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 25/02/2012 18:05

Which petting zoo btw? I just realised it's you dooin Grin and I bet my lot would enjoy that. I didn't know there was one near here?

PeppyNephrine · 25/02/2012 18:06

Go to the zoo in the morning, see your sister in the afternoon. Why the angst?

overmydeadbody · 25/02/2012 18:08

I am Envy that you have kids and yet need an alarm to wake up on sunday.

Do your kids not wake you up early like mine?

GrahamTribe · 25/02/2012 18:08

Tomorrow morning:

  1. Check the oil and fuel in your car.
  1. Gather up purse, keys, cards, children and coats.
  1. Hand your DH a mop, bucket, cloth, vacuun cleaner, can of polish and bin bag.
  1. Point him in the direction of the bedroom.
  1. Stick 2 fingers up at him as you drive away.
overmydeadbody · 25/02/2012 18:09

PomBear maybe it is not near? Maybe that's why they need an alarm? PErhaps it is a two hour drive?

D0oinMeCleanin · 25/02/2012 18:09

Tweddle Farm. There was a deal on Groupon for half price entry a few weeks ago we bought. It's cheap enough without half price tickets.

It's not huge but kids love it. Although last time we were there dd2 declared she was adopting a Guinea Pig, an actual pig, a goat and a Dengu. She settled on a goat in the end because it would be too big for the terrier to eat Grin. She says it will live in her bedroom Hmm
