No, I went with DD at the weekend (hasten to add I didn't skate as have little balance/coordination when I don't have wheels for feet!)

Loads of ages, abilities -all had big smiles and the older the skater the bigger the smile (due to reliving youth methinks!)

Doooo it!

A nightclub by me does a roller disco I need to go to that I think!!

BeamMysterious · 22/02/2012 17:50

Definitely do it - proper roller skates with four wheels though or inline skates? Those are tricky beggars to balance on, let alone skate. I had to borrow my DS's knee and elbow pads.Blush

It's a fab way to keep fit though.

I saw them being made on some prog the other day, i got so excited and started harking back to the good old days rollerskating.
Anyway, after a bit on tinerneting i found you can buy great retro rollerskates and rollerworld still exists Grin

Thistledo · 22/02/2012 17:56

Proper roller skates, I used to live in my skates they were blue velvet with yellow White and red stripes. Many moons ago we had a roller disco but it's gone now.

There's a roller disco in Manchester, I might go. Some of my friends went and had a brilliant night, although drinking alcohol and rollerskating might not be a good combination for me.

I want to get some retro roller skates now, the sort you put on over your shoes

OriginalJamie · 22/02/2012 18:05

I bought myself some roller boots recently- not in-line ones (Decathlon). Am determined to start again in the Spring (am early 40s)

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 22/02/2012 18:08

All the 'proper' skates were straight out of the 80's - blue with the yellow/white stripe down the side.

NOW they have lights on the wheels that light up as you skate about - was amazed! (young 'uns have to try and put ownership on something and as we totally own the invention of roller skating, we'll let them have flashy lights!)

My town has it's very own roller rink Grin

BeamMysterious · 22/02/2012 18:31

I want some roller skates with flashing lights now. And I want to go to a roller rink. Grin

Thistledo · 22/02/2012 18:35

Mine were similar to these www.johnlewis.com/122926/Product.aspx but I like these www.johnlewis.com/58314/Product.aspx can't do proper links on this thing

Oooh I like the back ones with pink laces. And they've got them in my size.

BeamMysterious · 22/02/2012 18:44

*black ones, I mean. But no flashing lights?Wink

OriginalJamie · 22/02/2012 18:46

these are the Decathlon ones, but I like your JL ones!

Thistledo · 22/02/2012 18:56

Thanks for doing the links, those black ones look nice too. Am jealous at all these people having rinks and parks we have nothing here.
