To send out these wedding invites?

My first AIBU, so here goes.

AIBU to send out these Wedding Invitations for my evening reception. Are they 'different' in a good way or just rubbish?

Name changed as if you get one of these in RL you will defiantly know who I am (am we wouldn't want that now would we)

They don't look like wedding invites. But so what? You like them, presumably they go with your theme or personality, so just go for it!

Ineedacleaneriamalazyslattern · 20/02/2012 21:59

I actually like them. I think something like that is either you or it's not.
They also suggest a damn good party Grin

MsMarple · 20/02/2012 21:59

Looks like an invite to a good night out! You should send them right away.

Midnightmoon · 20/02/2012 22:01

I like them and I would send them.
Dh would never agree because he likes traditional invitations.
But I would love to get an interesting invite like that, diffrent in a good way :o

Depends who you are inviting - if its a whole family she-bang then Great Aunti Mabel probably isn't going to bother if it isn't a family shindig. If it's just for your mates of a certain age group, then it's fine.

McHappyPants2012 · 20/02/2012 22:01

I don't think they look like wedding invites, but I like them

dementedma · 20/02/2012 22:02

YABU to say "invites." they are invitations! Grin

BiscuitNibbler · 20/02/2012 22:03

I received something similar a while back, and I much preferred it - always think evening invitations shouldn't be too much like the day ones as you are not inviting people to a wedding, only a party. It was one of the few evening dos I bothered to go to, actually.

TheWeddingPlanner · 20/02/2012 22:07

NotYetEverything - They did say marriage in the first place but it looked weird in capital letters so I changed it (MARRIAGE - well I think it looks weird) might change it back.

dementedma - Thanks for correcting me there, my first ever on MN I will remember it ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone, I might send some 'normal' invites to grandparents etc but I think I'm gonna got for it save me a few quid too

BiscuitNibbler · 20/02/2012 22:09

Won't your grandparents get the full invitations?

TheWeddingPlanner · 20/02/2012 22:15

BiscuitNibbler - We're running off to get wed (in Gretna Green :D ) so some grandparents aren't coming, also theres a few other people I want to invite who might not 'get' these invitations so I might just do a few more traditional ones. They are quite a good representation of the night so chances are if people don't like the invites they won't like the party - oh well can't please everyone I guess.

hahaha- 206 views already- I love MN!

Laquitar · 20/02/2012 22:18

I like them but they look abit like flyers for bar's nights and people might think they have to pay entrance Grin

I would skip the 'music and dinner' bit.

BiscuitNibbler · 20/02/2012 22:18

Well in that case I think they are perfect.

BiscuitNibbler · 20/02/2012 22:19

(Speaking as someone who ran off to Vegas!)

TheWeddingPlanner · 20/02/2012 22:23

haha Laquitar maybe I should put Free Entry on there too, that was sort of the look I was going for anyway so thanks :) By the 'music and dinner' bit do you mean 'live music and entertainment'? I couldn't think of anything else to put

Thanks BiscuitNibbler - Wish I could have ran off to Vegas but Gretna will have to do Grin

ShagOBite · 20/02/2012 22:25

I like.

But how do you know how many 'views' there have been?

TheWeddingPlanner · 20/02/2012 22:28

swanker & ShagOBite - I just noticed the little counter thingy Shock 526 so far, why are all these people viewing? When I send these out someone is bound to have seen them hides MN scarf and books in for a new hairdoo Grin

Laquitar · 20/02/2012 22:32

Yes, 'live music and entertainment'.
I don't know why i typed 'dinner', i always have my mind in food!

grimblesmother · 20/02/2012 22:34

I like 'em.

Hassled · 20/02/2012 22:35

We did something similar - had tiny registry office do with basically immediate family and close friends, and they didn't even get invites - I just told them when and where. Then everyone else got a PARTY!!!! invite for the evening. It was a party which just happened to be to celebrate a wedding, IYSWIM.

TheWeddingPlanner · 20/02/2012 23:21

Thats how i see it too Hassled, its a party to celebrate our wedding.

Just hope people turn up now Grin
