Hi,

Has my dh set this up.

story - He has hated ds's car seat from day one, complains all the time about it.

2 days ago he took it out to clean it, took it apart and washed the material covers (v nice, i thought). i watched this complex proceedure and asked if he could put it back together again. the response was a definite yes.

yesterday he tried to put it together but 1 part was missing, after looking all over the house we resigned ourselves to buying a new car seat. ordered one from argos and picked it up today (£60).

As soon as we get back with the seat, guess what.

Yes, the missing piece from the old car seat has magically appeared on the drive.

He took it apart inside the house by the way.

Is this a set up or what?

I'm showing him this thread later so he can see your opinions. So what do you think?

I think he is rather crafty, and you should be impressed rather than cross! :o

scurryfunge · 17/02/2012 11:36

Oh well, at least you'll have a spare now. Bit suspicious but probably not worth worrying over unless you couldn't really afford to replace it.

HoneyandHaycorns · 17/02/2012 11:37

Meh, if he disliked it enough to go to all that trouble, I think he is entitled to the new seat.

What was wrong with the old one?

piellabakewell · 17/02/2012 11:39

Take it back to Argos and get your money back.

worldgonecrazy · 17/02/2012 11:41

I'd go and get your money back and go out for dinner on the proceeds. What doesn't he like about your current seat?

CakeMixture · 17/02/2012 11:42

Why not just ask him?

Who could possibly hate a car seat so much they are prepared to waste £60 on buying another?

JaneMare · 17/02/2012 11:43

if it was such a problem, why didn't he go buy a different seat anyway?

SuchProspects · 17/02/2012 11:45

YABVU I have taken our car seats apart to wash them and lost pieces only for them to turn up in the most bizarre places. They are sneaky and crafty and have invisibilty cloaks. Also they can change size so that I can't get them through the slots but revert back so my DH can.

toofattorun · 17/02/2012 11:52

Leave the bastard.

JustHecate · 17/02/2012 13:01

Sounds fairly typical to me. Search high and low for something, finally give up, replace it - and it magically appears right under your nose. Sod's Law Grin

If he found the existing car seat a right royal pain in the arse, and you guys can afford £60, then it's not a big deal to get one that you both like and can use easily.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 17/02/2012 13:09

He's a bit sneaky... why not just say "look I hate this seat, I'm going to buy a new one"? Confused why all the sneaking about?

Cubtrouble · 17/02/2012 13:19

LOL this is a funny one, i like your DH style!! If he truely lost the piece by mistake, he wont mind if you buy EXACTLY the same seat again!!!! THAT would be a good way to tell.

Im thinking along the same lines with our coffee machine. DH spend ages trying to clean it and fix it and i am secretly happy its still not working properly! i am a bad person.

MissPenteuth · 17/02/2012 13:21

Nah. If he'd set it up he'd have binned or destroyed the missing piece to ensure it didn't turn up, surely?

DeWe · 17/02/2012 13:29

Lost something important of dd2's once. She used it during term time and had it at the beginning of December, but for various reasons it wasn't needed until January then. Couldn't find it anywhere. I turned her room upside down, and looked in all the possible places including lost property places. Phoned to order a new one in February and it turned up (inside a cardi) within 24 hours.

Dd2 said I should have tried ordering one sooner then it would have turned up sooner. Wink
