This morning I gave my wife some "I love you" chocolates and a card, in return she gave me an empty bag.

What do you think it means?

LilacWaltz · 14/02/2012 08:18

You need to fill it with something?

Sad

ditavonteesed · 14/02/2012 08:19

erm, only one person who can possibly know that, ask her.

ISayHolmes · 14/02/2012 08:22

Was giving you the bag a deliberate response to your present? Did she do it as a joke or as a passive-aggressive gesture?

LaughingGas · 14/02/2012 08:24

it means you are worth FA to her. soz

StealthPolarBear · 14/02/2012 08:24

Was it a designer bag?

joanofarchitrave · 14/02/2012 08:25

erm was it a really expensive leather bag or a plastic carrier?

Tell her you feel puzzled and ask her what's going through her mind.

talkingnonsense · 14/02/2012 08:28

It means you are a wonderful creative person who can think outside the box.. Or bag?

TalkingSense · 14/02/2012 08:29

Lilac - hadn't thought of that. Could well be the case.

No it wasn't an expensive designer bag it was a paper bag. She says it was from John Lewis, does that make it better?

OP posts:
Gumby · 14/02/2012 08:30

Do you have a child who couldhave taken stolen the contents of the bag?

TalkingSense · 14/02/2012 08:35

Two children and a dog but none of them are looking sheepish or gave chocolate around their mouths.

Perhaps it's for me take the dog on when she kicks me out.

OP posts:
TalkingSense · 14/02/2012 08:36

in not on

OP posts:
TalkingSense · 14/02/2012 08:37

Sheesh I must be upset

OP posts:
TalkingSense · 14/02/2012 08:58

Off to the gym now. Need to buff up if I'm going to be kicked out!

SydSaid · 14/02/2012 11:02

Nah. if it was over it would have been a suitcase or at the very least, a black refuse sack.

mojitomania · 14/02/2012 11:05

Maybe it was a clue?

YouOldSlag · 14/02/2012 12:15

Ask your DW "why did you give me an empty bag and what does it mean?" and then get back on here and tell us because I really want to know now. It's my mini cliff hanger of the day.

W0rmy · 14/02/2012 12:24

That's very sensible OP, stay positive.

I don't really get it though, I'm trying to picture the scene, I'm assuming you didn't exchange these 'gifts' face to face ?

Hurry back from the gym and explain more please.

TheMonster · 14/02/2012 12:27

cut a couple of eye holes in it and wear it as a mask.

TalkingSense · 14/02/2012 22:02

We did exchange them face to face, I really didn't know what to say. It was one of those 'gift' bags you get these days, just without the gift.

DW is now claiming that she forgot it was Valentine's day but I don't understand why she would give an empty gift bag in that case and she won't say.

I'm very confused, and although that's not unusual, I can't help feeling I'm missing something important.

rhondajean · 14/02/2012 22:06

I know I know!

It's a bag full of love.

hiddenhome · 14/02/2012 22:30

Was it a hint to take the dog out for a walk?

Whatmeworry · 14/02/2012 22:46

Dunno what to say really, I think I'd be a bit miffed but its hard to know the exact ambience, but given that it's not yet sorted....

YouOldSlag · 14/02/2012 23:05

OP, that's not good enough- go and ask her again so I can go to bed. [nosey emoticon]

Tell her to expand on her explanation so that an Old cyber Slag can go to bed without wondering about it.

TheOneWithTheHair · 15/02/2012 10:16

Have you figured it out yet op?

talkingnonsense · 16/02/2012 16:01

I am definitely claiming it was a bag full of love! No, I bought a lovely gift bag, but thougt I had one more shopping day to fill it! So am a terrible wife, and it'll probably never be forgotten! ( am the ops dw in case that wasn't clear!)
