To be loving oh being away for the week

he left this morning and I have cleaned the entire house (nearly) since he went. I have also changed the bedding on our bed. I know that even though I have 2 dds below 4yo the house will be much easier to manage while he is away. I can't wait tot sleep like a starfish tonight

You're going to sleep on a beach?

It's a bit cold for that isn't it? Grin

mojitomania · 13/02/2012 15:55

Excellent! Im the same. DP is away 3 nights a week, it's bloody bliss Grin

PowderMum · 13/02/2012 20:33

I'm feel even better than that DP is often away and this week he has taken the DC skiing so I can do whatever I want when I want for 7 whole days.

Going to the loo without interruption = bliss :)

dukeofpork · 13/02/2012 20:36

I love it too. But for the opposite reason to you Pud. I love being a slob and having a messy house. And my kids watch more tv than when dh is here. And I eat junk food because I feel the need to 'treat myself'!

My DH is also in London and has taken my kids to my MILs too...I have stayed at home as am working today and tomorrow...but it has been bliss!! I even went swimming tonight which I NEVER normally have time for, the house is immaculate, and I have my lovely bed all to myself :) YANBU at all!!

spiderslegs · 13/02/2012 21:30

YADNBU - DH works away fours days a week & I bloody love it, listen to as much 'shit' music as I like, eat fish-fingers with the children, sleep like a starfish (in fact, scrub that, sleep like an octopus), wallow in hot baths up to my neck every morning as the water hasn't been stolen & I'm always pleased to see him on a Thursday evening - everyone's a winner.

TadlowDogIncident · 13/02/2012 21:47

YANBU. I posted in Chat a couple of weeks ago because DH cancelled his plans to take DS to MIL's for the weekend and I was absolutely gutted as I was so looking forward to having the house to myself for a couple of days. (As it turns out it was just as well he cancelled: we had six inches of snow on the Saturday night. But I'm still feeling deprived of my solitary weekend!)

MissVerinder · 13/02/2012 21:52

YANBU. For some reason, the house just runs better without my DP in it!

I love him lots though, so don't think I'm being awful!

chocolateandcoffee · 13/02/2012 21:58

really love it too, everything is where you left it. everything is done by the time dc's go to bed. I can watch crap tv and eat crap food guilt free.

only happens about twice a year though, not half often enough though.

I have a friend who ships out to her mums house when her DH goes away as she dosent like being alone in the house. I think she is mad. enjoy pud.

squeakytoy · 13/02/2012 22:01

YADNBU! Grin

Mine was away from Mon to Fri last week and I love it... eating when I felt like it.. watching films in bed late at night (he usually has to be up at 5am so not something I can normally do)... hardly any tidying up to do, and best of all nobody to moan at me for having the fire AND the heating on! Grin

flibbertywidget · 14/02/2012 00:30

I miss my DP going away :-(. We definitely get on better when we are apart Grin. Before DC, we used to spend more time apart than together due to work. Then we moved country, he couldn't find a job, became SAHD, I went to work. We spend more time in each others company and I hate it Confused. Fortunately he now has just started a job where I hope understand he will travel.

I truly believe absence makes the heart grow fonder.

BiddyPop · 14/02/2012 09:12

I have finally, this time, learned how to spread out and enjoy all that space in the bed. DH is away for 3 weeks, while DD went to visit Granny for mid-term too. I miss them both lots, but I am also relishing the space and peace!!

I love it too! I sleep terribly with someone else in the bed and love having total control of the remote!
