To ask my mum for receipt for top?

Got a phase eight top from my mum for birthday. Was £39 but I don't like it. Said I did out of politeness when I opened it. Really want to change it but think it is a bit rude to ask for receipt?

She normally gets my vouchers and I feel bad that she's gone to effort to pick something and even said it would go with to users I have (which it would but I actually don't love them either!)

Can see other stuff at that price I would actually wear loads. what would you do??

Can you say it doesn't fit/hang right on you? Then unfortunately the shop won't have one in the right size when you go to exchange it. That way you get something you like without upsetting your mother.

Could you not just tell her that it doesn't fit very well and you would like to get something that fits better. At least then you wouldn't have to tell her the real reason.

I think if you've said you like it I'd now say doesn't hang right or other such waffle as others have said. Agree that you may not need receipt if exchanging it.

Was going to try and exchange but see they have 20% off some stuff at min so thought they may deduct that and I would need receipt to get full value as you don't get much there for £40.

Will maybe try exchange first and see. Just interested to see what people do in this situation. I never ask for receipts and have always thought it rude. However at the same time I hate the thought of wasting money on people if they aren't going o wear something.
