mrsshears · 07/02/2012 18:05

OP posts:
misdee · 07/02/2012 18:11

its ok. i'm 30 weeks, barely got a bump and not waddling :)

BetsyBoop · 07/02/2012 18:22

I was seriously the size of a small country when pregnant with DS and was totally sick of people saying "any day now" from six months onwards... (but then he was 10lb 10.5oz in the end and I was half a stone lighter than before I got pregnant by the time I came home from hospital , so it was ALL baby!)

I hated being so big and was very very Envy of those with small neat bumps....I definitely wasn't boasting about the size of mine...
Confused

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/02/2012 18:26

Mine is MASSIVE (and DD is a year old so that's great).

cheekyseamonkey · 07/02/2012 19:36

Weird! I'm 33 weeks and walking with a stoop to try to hide my actually not all that large bump (it was massive with DD1 and although excited/proud at first I was hideously conscious of it near the end).

I'm getting a lot of people saying, 'you're 33 weeks?! Ooh, aren't you doing well, nice and small? etc' Yes, potential growth problems are marvelous.

MistyMountainHop · 07/02/2012 20:32

cheeky i know what you mean, i had problems in my second pregnancy that meant i was very small, and i had to go for scans to check the baby was growing ok :(

and i couldn't believe the amount of people that complimented me on having such a tiny bump Confused

iwantbrie · 07/02/2012 20:56

Well, I'm sick to bloody death of being told how big my bump is! I'm 38 weeks & have had a noticeable bump since my 12 week scan. So far I've had "wow you're huuuge!", "are you sure there's only 1 in there?" and haven't you had it yet? I thought you were further on than that!" among other gems...
I am fully aware that my stomach is the size of a small planet thank you very much (looks alot bigger because I'm also short), I'm the one who has to carry it around all day!!
YANBU btw Grin

BrianButterfield · 07/02/2012 21:07

But other people comment on it all the time! It makes you very aware of how big/small you are. Also, you can't conclude that nobody else cares when, as I say, everybody you meet has an opinion...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/02/2012 21:09

Noone comments on my bump, I have an eeevil face Grin

TastesLikePanda · 07/02/2012 21:20

My bump is all cake and chips...
not pregnant

RagamuffinAndFidget · 07/02/2012 21:23

TastesLikePanda Are you me?

TastesLikePanda · 07/02/2012 21:28

Ooh maybe!

Have you just lost your phone and then found it under your massive arse on the sofa?
Blush

FrizzyFrazzled · 07/02/2012 21:32

Yes yes yes!! I met a friend of a friend when I was about 26 weeks, who was as far along as me, and after "hello", the first thing she said was, "Ooh, I think my bump is a bit bigger than yours even though I am due a few days after you" in a smug tone. What an odd thing to say?!
I generally don't mind comments about pregnancy from people who have no kids because I understand that for the most part they are just being nice and feigning interest, but people who compare are just odd.

KittyFane · 07/02/2012 21:39

And a big bump means what exactly!
My bump wasn't bump like. Infact I just looked a bit fatter.
I'm tall and a 'stocky' build :o
I was pleased. No stretchmarks, I wasn't uncomfortable and if it had been big I'd have been the size of a house.
DD was 7.5 lb so not small.
Who cares though! Big, small, it means nothing.

FrizzyFrazzled · 07/02/2012 21:43

My bump was big but not massive and DS was 9lb, current bump is a bit smaller - a friend of mine looked like she had swallowed a very small watermelon and had a baby nearly 10 lb - so yes, means nothing! Just yet another thing to rave on about...

WhiteTrash · 07/02/2012 21:47

I have huge bumps. Ive come to the decision I must have a short torso as my bumps stick right out giving the impression Im carrying triplets. When actually its just up to 9lb 5oz which is pretty average now.

But I had a few negative comments on how big my bump was, and also got the "What?! You have three MONTHS left?!"

MrsCog · 07/02/2012 22:09

For me it's not so much competitive size, but competitive position - facebook pictures of bums sticking out at the top of bums etc - when you're 36 weeks with a stubbornly breech DC it's a teeny weeny bit :( ! Never thought something so silly could make me feel like that!

Faffalina · 07/02/2012 22:14

Yeah, they seem to have some weird idea that big bump = big baby (which they seem to think is better than a small or average baby. Why??)

Bewilderedmum · 07/02/2012 22:17

My bump needed it's own postcode with ds2 - this small child stopped his mum in sainsburys and told her he'd just seen a snowman - I was wearing a white top at the time.

Both were smallish - 6lb 11, and 7 lb 8 respectively - I just mutate when pregnant....

BobbysBeardOfWonder · 07/02/2012 22:23

Well I feel I have a huge bump and know someone due 2 days before me who is nowhere near as big. I commented on this to my DH cos I feel it's unfair! Why do I have to feel so frikkin fat and heffalumpy Angry Envy but Grin

MeconiumHappens · 08/02/2012 18:22

I have the other issue, people keep laughing and saying its massive already and that im going to be like a barrell. Funny. nobs. Im short, theres no way but out, plus i already had a belly so its still there, just stuck in front of the bump.

molly3478 · 08/02/2012 18:27

From the back I dont look pregnant and from the front I look like a boiled egg
