To go to work tomorrow even though I am sick?

With sore throat, headache, swollen glands and that horrible Swollen painful taste that you get just before you get pretty walloped with bug? (not sure why, it always tastes 'green' Confused

Because, at home the house is in need a tidy, the bedroom is a mess so I will feel more awful, which means I will end up tidying just todo I can then collapse in a heap in a tidy house. Because so much needs doing, and Dh will go out as 'I am sick' and it just won't get done, so I will end p doing it all anyway [martyr emoticon] and won't even have him here making me drinks.

Because at work, I can drink coffee all day, some of which might even be made by colleagues (motors of it if I am honest) because my desk is tidy and so my mind will feel clearer even thou I am sick, and I will be able to do some work and because I might even get some sympathy?

Seriously, this time a few years ago I would consider a sick day for a sore throat, now, work seems appealing.

Half the office is sick, so I am not really spreading anything they have not just given me Wink

It sounds like for now your symptoms could all be managed with some cold+flu max strength type stuff? If you'll get more rest at work than at home then go in.

You do need to be able to put yourself first at home though at times [stern look].

Yep your right. I will get on top of house tomorrow and if I still feel shit take morning off on wed. I was gonna sort bedroom out as I have some new things to put in it and make it all pretty. Only really washing that needs sorting, but it's been chucked on the sofa in bedroom and rooted through and, there are some toys around. Maybe I will make my side nice this evening, that will take less time!

I have not taken any flu stuff, or other meds this evening as, I know this sounds silly but I can't bear to go to sleep feeling reasonably ok as a bug starts and meds make me feel human, only to wake up at 1am feeling like I have been hit by a bus and wait for an hour for next lot of meds to kick in. I would rather go to bed feeling crap and just we feeling a little more crap than that. Tomorrow first thing, meds then dosed all morning. So I will prob feel better after that tomorrow anyway.

Get DH to make you a flask of coffee and stay in bed. All day. You can go the loo but that's it. You can get sympathy here of course. And get DH to pop out tonight for the snacks (M&Ms?) you might need tomorrow.

motors of coffee btw? dude, you're delirious. time for a day off. Smile

PavlovtheCat · 06/02/2012 21:07

NG. I actually think I dislike dh's iPad. The amount of typos I make is unreal. But my MacBook is upstairs and not mobile as battery is dead when not plugged in. And I am lazy. I know I have a bug as m&ms don't sound appealing.

Dh is out tonight.

I do like the sound of flask of coffee, bed and mn though.

I reckon I got this from the new health centre I just joined though not work. I a, almost immune to work germs. I have probably been exposed to most of the germs in this city.

YABU to go in when you're sick. You'll make mistakes and expect everyone to feel sorry for you.

I hate hate hate it when my colleagues do this. I'd have every sympathy with them if they were at home where they belong, but I am NOT spending all day making sympathetic noises and getting coffees for people who are making me sick.

Just get into bed and DON'T CLEAN UP.

TheThingUpstairs · 06/02/2012 21:33

Agree with mockingjya, don't go in and spread your germs about!

AbbyAbsinthe · 06/02/2012 21:36

I agree with mockingjay. It fucks me right off when people come into work spreading their crap about when they could have stayed off. Nobody else wants your germs, and once other people have caught it from you, not everyone is going to want to go into work.

ShagOBite · 06/02/2012 21:41

Same quandary here. Came home from work ill. Feeling v rough, but being at home, with everything that that entails (baby and toddler) makes me want to go to work tomorrow. But I'm a teacher, so not a case of sitting quietly at a desk. :(

PavlovtheCat · 06/02/2012 22:08

ok, you talked me into a duvet day then. i shall see if i feel ok when i get up, if i feel like i do now, i shall go back to bed and close my eyes. then i won't see the mess!

PavlovtheCat · 06/02/2012 22:09

shagObite hope you feel better tomorrow

You won't regret it Pavlov! Get your thermos of soup and watch bad movies on the sofa Grin

PavlovtheCat · 06/02/2012 22:11

i will regret it when i return though. my work does not get done by other people if i am not there (well, not unless someone life actually depended on it Wink)

PavlovtheCat · 06/02/2012 22:13

and I will tell the powers above that the wise ol' MNers told me I was indeed being unreasonable to go to work, so could not possibly struggle in...

right off to bed (well, actually in bed already) as muscles starting to hurt so typing not so easy now.

AbbyAbsinthe · 06/02/2012 22:22

Pavlov, we all have it all waiting when we go back. But feeling shitey all day at work is horrible, and nobody thanks you for it. Have a day off!

Icelollycraving · 06/02/2012 22:34

Yabu. Don't go in & spread your germs. Particularly as you know you are only going in to avoid being at home.
If you can't face doing chores, don't. Go to bed & get better,
