To be hacked off that my DCs school was closed today?

Received the email yesterday afternoon that the school would be closed today due to the weather. We had a few inches of snow on Saturday night but it had really thawed by this morning. DH has gone to work in London without problem. Received another email today that DDs school trip planned for tomorrow is also cancelled. The other local schools seem to be open. Has anyone else in the SE had school closed today??

Yes, we did. My 5 dc go to 4 different schools.... All open except one who on website cited '6 inches of snow and grounds are slippery'

It just literally depends on where the staff live and if they can make it in.

In the SE and everything had melted so school was open.

Ours was open - and is the highest school in Kent and normally a nightmare in snow. YANBU. We're in the back of beyond and yet the lanes are all easily passable, main roads absolutely fine.

It said on the news that Heads couldn't decide until the morning when they knew how many staff could make it. Staff don't know they can't make it until they try. Some staff have a long commute.

We're in cambs and DS school was open much to his disappointment

The school I work at was closed as there is a lot of outdoor space and it was slippery. We all think it's daft but the parents are the first to complain if their child falls over and hurts themselves.
